I didn't know what to think of this record when I got it, but Pop Life immediately won me over and then Rasberry Beret, Tamborine and ofcourse America. I like Condition of the Heart but the tone of the song always left me feeling dreadful.

Anx said: i was amazed. i didn't expect it, but i embraced it from the very first listen. it was like finding a key to a secret room or something. i was a kid when this came out, and i wasn't used to an artist completely changing their sound like he did on this album. plus, every song sounded so much different than the last one. i used to spend hours listening to the album and staring at the album art, wondering what it all meant. i miss that kind of thing.
Same here. This was the album that officially hooked me onto Prince. I loved Purple Rain, don't get me wrong, but this album blew my mind. It showed me what an amazing artist he was and is capable of. I had to collect everything from that point on.

Pretty much sums up my thoughts exactly: Purple Rain was amazing it made me sit up and take notice, ATWIAD blew me away and from that day on I could not look away. 'Hi, My name is Prince and I'm going on a trip do U want 2 Come?' And believe me I Came, time and time again.

I loved it. My best cousin and I jammed along to this during the summer of 1985. We loved it, from beginning to end.

Well, I bought this one before I had even heard anything on it. Loved it!, My friends thought I was . Around the World in a Day, America, Tambourine & Raspberry Beret are my favorites.

The album was different from what I expected, but it was still Prince. I did like it though.

First response was...
WTF??? I did like Rasberry Beret immediately... I tripped when I saw the video and Prince had cut his hair. Pop Life I liked Immediately and its still one of my favs. The rest of the Album took some listening to to 'really get it' and enjoy it. Not my fav Prince album.... not the worst. But I do feel that in that era... this album was a mistake

I absolutely loved it - I just updated my Prince CDs from LPs and that was the first one I picked up amongst the others from For You - LoveSexy. Prince is a genius, period!
