by the numbers type people would argue that Prince peaked at Purple Rain. some would like to daydream that Prince's Peak is yet to come. I'd just like to know what you all think.

Has Prince Peaked yet? If so when? If not. Have you had your medication today? What do you mean Prince isn't peaked?

And what about twin peaks? After all, he is a gemini and this does seem like the television show, or is that just me.

I think he definitely has peaked. It was a very long peak from 1999 - Lovesexy. After that he was still very very good, but he went in another musical direction that no longer pandered to his creativity in the way that it was prior. I call it "The Last of the Purple Sound"....which petered out on Grafitti Bridge.

I think the switch in musical instuments and the loss of really creative folk like W&L...just being around him (I think he was really done with other people "influencing" his music). Sure he had 2 incredible pieces of work post Revolution...but the lack of creative forces around him that he didn't control started taking it's toll around Diamonds and Pearls.

Now this is not to say that the revolution had THAT much influence in creating the songs; but I think being around them, influenced the direction his music went.

I think that Prince is surely very interested in Twin Peaks, especially if they belong to someone 20+ years younger than himself!

Prince has had lots of peaks...

On a serious note: I hate I wasn't born when Prince was on the Purple Rain high at that peak, but Prince kind of peaked in my lifetime too. when I was 12--in 1998--I remeber there were a group of kids freaking out about him all the time. And in 1999 everybody and thier grandma's dog was all over MTV when he did the countdown and performed "1999" for the Y2K crossover. So I think Prince kind of peaks with each generation. Just remember--the "Purple Rain" generation is kind of the parents to the "3121/Musicology" generation.

I am reluctant to point out a "peak" because of what happens after the peak. I think Prince's music can be appreciated for many years to come and he is very diverse in his music. I certainly appreciate the old and the new.
