Prince played his most famous/memorable concert 19 years ago today. 19 years ago today Prince layed the groundwork for "Purple Rain" with his famous First Avenue concert. The released versions of I Would Die 4 U, Purple Rain, and Baby I'm a Star were based on the performances from this show.
It was also Wendy's first show as the guitarist for the Revolution. I remember a few years back that Entertainment weekly did a list of the 100 greatest moments in rock history and this paticular concert came in at 63. To view the entire list: http://www.ew.com/ew/fab4.../list.html or to read directly what they had to say about the show: http://www.ew.com/ew/fab4...63.html#63 Edited because I forgot how to do the math: [This message was edited Sat Aug 3 11:07:35 PDT 2002 by lovemachine]

Was anyone on the org actually there?
Remember that anyone under the age of 40 (I'm not sure if drinking age was 19 or 21 in 1983 so it might actually be 42) is lying. There is one cat out at Paisley who claims to have been there, but he is like 30 so it seems doubtful that he was in a bar at 11 years of age. Has anyone seen the video of this performance? Prince looked crazy with that hair and his make-up melting off from the heat. "The Avenue" has to be one of my favorite boots I just wish it sounded better. Anyway here is the setlist from that magical night: Let's Go Crazy, When U Were Mine, A Case Of You, Computer Blue, Delirious, Electric Intercourse, Automatic, I Would Die 4 U, Baby I'M A Star, Little Red Corvette, Purple Rain, DMSR . Good question lovemachine ! I'd also like to know who the guys in the "Dirty Mind" / "Uptown" video are and what they're doing nowadays. They looked REALLY weird. But they
probably don't even remember.
