"If you want to destroy my sweater..."

Back in 1996, me and my girlfriend [go figure] actually took a sweater to a disco, requested that song, jumped
right unto the middle of the dancefloor and tore that sweater completely to shreds.

Within about a minute the whole dancefloor was completely empty and everyone just kinda stood over by the wall with
their jaws on the floor. Hahaha.

But when the song was nearly finished and we took out our lighters and tried to set flame to the shreds which we had thrown onto a pile at our feet, the doorman came and kicked us both out.

We were banned from that club for 6 months.

How Rude.

But yeah, I still like a bit of Weezer now and than.

eek

Oh my! I need to go out with you sometime! That is too hilarious!

Weezer rocks, I can't wait to hear the report...I was too broke to catch them when they played MPLS sad

OK
When you go to a nightclub:
1. order a drink and drink it
2. dance if that'a what people are doing
3. shut the fuck up
4. repeat steps one through three until its announced that the club will be closing... or until you just get tired and want to go somewhere else and do something similer... or just go home.

This is called "going out." Any questions? No? Good. Now SHUT UP!

Okay... about the rock show...

First off... there were three bands.

Sparta
Dashboard Confessional
Weezer

Sparta SUCKED - never listen to them.

Dashboard Confessional is a SHITTY band. I can not believe that anyone likes these guys... really shitty. These guys DO NOT rock.

Weezer - played loud rock but the pacing of the show was bad. They stopped between every song for 20 or 30 seconds. The momentum and power of the ROCK was lessened by the slow pacing... they would have the crowd rocking out and then they stopped too long between songs. They could have really whipped the crowd into a rage if they would have run two songs together without a break.

Rivers kept talking about respecting the ROCK and discussing the merits of rocking out... I found this refreshing, as there is not enough good rock out there. Weezer contains NO rap, NO stupid turntables and scratching, etc. THE ROCK WAS LOUD AND PLENTIFUL.

There were a number of mistakes in their playing... the drummer messed up quite a number of times and the whole band messed up during "Dope Nose."

All the explosions and fire more than made up for the mistakes... you know you are rocking out when there are columns of fire shooting up all over the stage.

Fire and loud rock pretty much sum up the show.

Cuz if it is completely serious, than I am rather sorry for you since you must belong to the jawdroppers up against the wall, holding their drink in one hand and holding their balls with the other.

What a boring life that must be.

Didn't cha know that all rules (other than it being consensual in the first place) go out the window when it comes to sexuality? mr.green

Oh, I did enjoy the show... Weezer definitely played some good rock music and there were about 12,000 people or so there. The size of the crowd was refreshing, as Weezer does not have any rap or turntable crap. There were many young people there and it gave me hope for the future.

smile

BTW: I don't think that Weezer care about making mistakes at all... they just have fun and play rock for the sake of ROCK.

Here is a tracklist... not in order, some songs probably omitted and possible mistakes:

Dope Nose
Buddy Holly
My Name is Jonas
Holiday
Only in Dreams
El Scorcho
Tired of Sex
Surf Wax America
Across the Sea
Getchoo
Why Bother?
Hash Pipe
Knock-down drag-out
Island in the Sun
December
Possibilities
Death and Destruction
Keep Fishin'

+ part of "Headed out to the Highway" by Judas Priest

All-in-all, it was a good show and I really did enjoy it!

That setlist was completely different to the previous show. Its incredible how they mix it up. I have around 90 unreleased Weezer songs including the unmastered 5th album advance, if you want it i'll hook you up with it.

Glad you had fun!

I for one like Dashboard, but I agree that the band isn't very good.

Chris Carrabba (the lead singer and guitarist) is actually very talented and can write good songs, but he hired the worst band in the history of music. The bass player and drummer often sounded like they were playing different songs then Chris the two times I've seen them live.

But when it is just Chris onstage you can tell that he actually quite talented.

Also, the worst name EV-ER for a band.

You are right, the guy clearly is talented... they just did not rock at all though. He has a knack for writing crafty pop songs, but they just didn't work in the context of a rock show... in my opinion only.

The fact that they played acoustic guitars the whole time made the loud rock that Weezer played seem even that much more magnificient.
