I moved on and gave Prince a long break after Diamonds and Pearls cd. I came back after Musicology. I'm playing a lot of catch up on his 90's-current stuff. I don't like all of them, but appreciate the ones that I consider great tracks.

You're caught in a time capsule. Every artist has their peek and Prince is going to do what he wants to do, and create what he wants to create. It seems like you're having a hard time with taking a break.

No BET 106 and park, no MTV TRL, no VH-1, no tour, no Oprah,no Letterman no Leno, no interviews. Most people don't even know about 3121.

However you do have your right to your opinion, and if you feel he was media whore, then cool, but again , if you feel Prince ain't bringing in with high sales and sold out venues, the things that are important to you, why not....move on?

After reading so many threads concerning this matter, I felt the need to respond. I've been a fan of Prince since the late 70's. I'm old enough to remember when songs like "I wanna be your lover" and "sexy dancer" were released. If any of you remember those early days, you know that Prince was not considered a"commercial" act. Prince was not your typical "black act". He was considered during the Dirty Mind/Controversy years as a underground/cult like figure. Altough those early albums were outstanding, they didn't generate large album sales. The only period in Prince's career were he was "commercial" was during the 1999/Purple Rain years. Since then his album sales have fallen off. However, Prince is as creative now as he was during the late 70's and all throughout the 80's and 90's. All I'm trying to say is don't get caught in the hype of these other "commerical" acts. Appreciate the fact that Prince has been performing for over 25 years and continues to produced amazing/groundbreaking music.
