it's nice to step out on a Wednesday and end up seeing a great performance... or having a pleasent experience... it keeps the music scene on it's toes.

---From what i hear from friends who catch him occasionally at local jazz clubs, he still brings his bodyguards...why? i have no clue whatsoever. It always made me laugh when i saw his protoge's like Carmen Electra(pre stardom '92) surrounded by bodyguards when no one gives a crap either way.

--I used to go quite a bit, but it's not quite the same vibe you get anymore(maybe it's just me)-- i'd much rather see him at a local club or venue.

--special? no. different? yes. He's become the '3rd cousin you'd see when you were a kid but hardly mention anymore'. I used to think Mpls took him for granted--but, aside from Celebration shows, he doesn't actually do much in Mpls anymore. No club shows, no impromtu concerts, no previews of upcoming tours. Doesn't feel like his city anymore, if you know what i mean.

Does his music get played more often there than elsewhere?
--no more than anywhere else from what i can tell. The normal 'Kiss', 'When doves Cry', 'LRCorvette' rotation on the top 40 stations, but not quite as often.

--none in commercials(i think he'd prefer it that way), and many travel guides used to list Paisley as an attraction(tours, recording groups, etc), but not much anymore.

--I've heard of both...he can rude and then very nice. How he chooses one...likely depends on the price of tea in China. Out at Paisley, i've only crossed pathes with him a couple times...he seems generally nice.

To me, Mpls and P are like ex-girlfriends: sure there was real magic there at one time, but can you ever go back to what it was? Fortunately or unfortunately, no.

Every time I've seen him, he's w/bodyguards. He used to come into my movie theatre and it ws always a production. Bodyguards buying the tickets first, letting him come in a side door so people wouldn't catch it was him (but I got to hold the door open for him! Which was pretty cool at the time cause I'd been a fan since about birth and it was the first times I saw him up close.).

The few times he was at my theatre, he was nice. Said "thank you" when I held the door open.

The one thing about Minneapolis is EVERYONE has a Prince story. Either you ran into him somewhere, used to go out to see him at Glam Slam a lot back in the day, or your cousin's girlfriend's coworker's dad went to school with him. I hear he used to tear it up at the local roller-rink.
