It's been 3 LONG YEARS since the last Paisley parties I went to...

late last night i was sitting around and thinking about stuff...all the sudden i realized that july 11th & 12th marked 3 years since the last two paisley parties that were given out at the park. i even found the reports i gave for both nights too (1st night and 2nd night). it doesn't even seem that long ago, but then again...it seems like it's been an eternity as well.

then i started reminiscing over the few parties i was lucky enough to attend before prince stopped throwing 'em--yeah, there were the 3 aftershows during the musicology tour back in 2004, but i don't really count those as proper parties. ya'll old-school orgers know the ones: the party got announced here on the org from one of the mpls-area orgers in the know, everybody started getting all excited, folks outta state were all like "i wish i were there..." and then the party would come and go, so you'd log on to the org and read all the reports from folks who were there. goodtimes. touched

i honestly should start making comix about some paisley party memories that i have and put 'em up as an installment of uptowns not uptown or something, before i totally forget about 'em. kinna like charlie murphy's true hollywood stories, except not as buckwild and on paper. lol or perhaps asking the paisley veterans 'round here to share some of their stories and i could put 'em into cartoon form or something and post 'em on my comix blog as well...hmmmm....hmmm

Gosh you just dont know how i feel the same.. now i remember when you could call and ask is there a party tonight...or when the local radio station and only D.J. Jules on KMOJ..you would have to listen closely and know when to hear him say it...."Party at Paisley Park tonight..1 am"

i miss that feeling you got when you came close as you passed the gas station (you old paisley schoolers u know) and the church...chanhassen inn.. and then you would get that exciting feeling in the pit of you stomach. i would get so anxious just wanted to be in those doors feeling that vibe.. being in his world and you knew you part of a very few who knew what the heck was going on..people were sleeping in their beds at home at 3am and you still breaking a hardcore sweat because Prince done picked up the bass or pulled out another new jam..

yea i miss him too.. i hope he comes back to Minneapolis and brings the love and funk again soon or one of these days...it would be nice..well nice is an understatement...i think he will after he gets some more things together and yes it cost him out of pocket to throw those parties..but i know he felt it was worth it..we jammed like no concert can smile and it was all in our little private world..as some of you got to read about.

if there is ever another one..man i suggest not missing it at least one in your life...after that i warn you the desire and craving for another one is like no other feeling.

and if all wonderful things did come to an end..(which i dont believe he is done yet).. then it was the most fun i ever had and will always remember and i am thankful for the experiences.

"what u be thinking about when your looking at me and laughing ?" YOU baby YOU !!!! not laughing pure joy from the pit of your stomach to the tip of your toes...couldn't help but to giggle.

Very good idea Dansa.

Thanks for reminiscing!

Endeara, you describe the experience very well. I've never been to a Paisley Party, but felt much of the same feelings before Prince concerts.

Why would he have a party when everyone that goes are misfocused on the meaning of the event?
News: Prince pulls his head out his ass in the last moment.
Bad News: Prince wasted too much quality time doing so.

Yes. But I would rather look at the phiolosophical aspects of the question.

Great post endeara. And to think one person can inspire excitment and happiness in so many people. You captured the feelings of alot of people I'll bet.

Great posts! I've only been to one after party, just this past February when Tamar and Prince were here in MSP. Even though it cost $25 per person to get in and he never got on stage the entire night, and my husband is still complaining about staying out there until 3 a.m., I still get butterflies in my stomach thinking about it and dream about the next party!
