Would Prince had sucess if he had approached...

...doing remixes like Madonna and other dance acts did?

I think Prince could have found a great niche for his music!

Well, there were a couple of good remixes in the late 80s. like for instance the Mark Moore remix of The Future...I still like that one though I don´t really like it when other people remix his songs but that one was good. I also liked his excellent remixes in the mid 90´s ( I Hate U rmx kicks the original version´s ass 100 times, The Good Life Remix was also fun , and the MoneyMakerMix of Get Wild was kool , too).
But back to your question, I think that the Mark Moore remix was probably the closest of Prince letting someone do a dance version.....then again, this is all just off the top of my head and of course there were more remixes ( -Neptunes , etc.and the Gett Off remixes and Cream etc. and that Silk Hurley stuff)

Yeah, I agree, especially since no one gives him credit for his ballads. pout

I really don't know. When he does dance stuff, it's mostly on point but it never hurts to have remixes of them. With that said, sure. He should have focued on it more. It would have been a great way to sell his music and it still is if he choses to do it.

I'll go a step further and say that he should have focused more on Dance music period. His most popular songs are his dance songs like 1999, When Doves Cry and Kiss. That's the Prince that everyone knows and loves the most. That's why I love Black Sweat and I would have loved to hear a remix of that song. nod
I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that

No. Prince had success because of the PRECISE route he took.

Prince made good 12 Inch remixes in the 1980s because they were a longer version of the original song. The 12 Inch house remixes by Prince and 99% of the other artists of the 1990s were nothing to write home about. The only good house song is a song that was house to begin with.
Andy is a four letter word.
