CinisterCee	Whenever I heard New Power Generation it makes me think of the Graffiti Bridge era. NPG makes me think of the mid 90s.

I have a friend that used to be the biggest Prince fan...he didn't know.
I know I must have come across it online during a casual search and I'm sure I passed it by. The rationale: "This can't be his official...his name's not in it."

We need a "poll your friends" thread.

I'm speaking purely as a fan. The general public's perception of what happens with P/web address is a non issue. Besides, most of the general public (unfortunately) could give a rat's ass about the NPGMC shutting down.Although P is synonymous with the NPG label, go in a new direction.

WHat I'm saying is that the name: "NPG this, that, or the other" should be retired. It is played out and should have been put out to pasture. He should make it something more catchy, but memorable. WHatever that is, only time will tell.

Probably because most of the general public don't know what NPGMC is. Even the ones that would care [if they did know].

I'm with you on the non NPG name.

well i always got npgmc on a google search, so that's not really an issue.

Right and it came up in one of my searches too...but that's a different thread.

Anyway, so many things come up and I do think that a url can be too clever for it's own good. It's best to keep that simple and make the site clever. www=world wide web. That's the entire planet. Why make that connection more complicated?

I think he trademarked the symbol. The symbol has been seen on several occasions in the last year or two of public appearances, so it is still relevant.

Exactly. Band names and albume titles become dated. There needs to be a web site that's clearly "Prince" and not associated with the past. Plus, he goes in and out of phases and makes clean breaks with past associations and then needs to change everything and reorganize. The web site needs to be consistant. "PrinceNelson" somewhere could work. This mess makes me think he makes snap decisions without forethought. He could've used his OLD website to promote his NEW website. That's pretty much why I thought he needed some help on it all.

I agree. One Prince Portal. Under this he can come up with 10 sites a week and it will be fine because it will all be under the portal navigation. Even the approved fan sites can be under this umbrella...but they would have to bear the official top nav and logo. This way it's hard to get lost in all the acronyms and whims and things.

Another reason I think P needs help is.....his website wasn't FREE. I signed on 3 weeks before the place shut down. (Who knew?) I haven't heard any reassurances that members will be umbrella'd into a new website. Prince, if you're out there...BE RESPONSIBLE!!! Either he's not listening to his financial advisors or he needs new ones. Maybe he has a bunch of "YES" people around him who are afraid to say; No, Prince, that's a very, very bad idea. I wouldn't recommend it.....Either way, if you can't come up with any ideas on a new website there's plenty of fans here with suggestions. Good ones, I might add.
