Which song do you think best exemplifies Prince's genius?

If you had to play ONE Prince song - regardless of genre - to a 'non-believer' - which one would it be?

It probably wouldn't convince many people, but - for me - it would have to be 'The Ballad Of Dorothy Parker'. Stunning! I can't imagine anyone else composing it...

Have you ever played them an unreleased track thinking, "This'll get 'em!"?

I always try 'In All My Dreams', 'Moonbeam Levels' or 'Empty 'Room'. FLOORS them!

Why do we, the people who like Prince´s music (I´m afraid of using the word "fan"), always try to introduce other people to his music?

Which of you shall cast the first stone?

"Wedding Feast" is sure to win over new fans/fams.

But seriously...I think "Adore" is the perfect introduction to Prince.

When Doves Cry. It's mainstream. Most everybody I know, whether they love or hate Prince, have an appreciation for that particular song.

i would say 'Kiss'...it has a little of everything in it--the famous drum machine wizardry, rhythm guitar, his sweet falsetto, and prince's witty lyrics 'act your age momma, nacho chew size and maybe we can do the twirl'
--who can sing about chewing nachos without sounding goofy but prince?

It hard to pick just one because they all justify his genius. but if i was going to pick one track. It would be

I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man

for the brilliant guitar work, and timing of every note. Prince on all cylinders... cool

I can (Stevie Wonder)

I gotta say ONA, It's a demo. It's just rich with passion and charm.
If he ever makes a deluxe version. It would be his greatest work ever!
Personally I feel he's at his best when the music is pure.
8 is my favorite work of his.
My Dad likes ONA And MH 8, He doesn't like his voice though.
He's into Barry White, Marvin gaye, and the Beatles

Especially to someone who only knows Kiss, 1999 & Raspberry Beret...In a Large Room with No light.

My boyfriend is a huge fan of jazz and blues. I converted him with "When the Lights go down". It was the very first Prince song I ever played for him. I didn't tell him it was Prince, I just said that I wanted him to hear a song.

Halfway through, he asked "WHO is this?" I told him it was Prince! Another successful conversion smile

Endorph is the most ass-kickin piece
of rock ever!! as well as Temptation (Hendrix)
and "I Like it there" as well as Zannalee.
I would love to hear KISS'S cover Endorph.
He's got the keys to the Music Cannon.
