it's not circulating anywhere as far as anyone knows. people who say they have a bootleg of the color version are most likely full of it, unless they can provide screencaps from the movie in color....which has yet to happen.
if anyone out there has a copy, they're being VERY tight-lipped about it.

Even if we didn't know it had been filmed in colour - it's easy to tell that it's been transferred to b&w and not filmed that way.
I do remember about 8-10 years ago info. on a copy circulating, but it was around the time I stopped trading tapes and stuff, and I never heard of it circulating after that or since, so I figured it was a red-herring that it was circulating at all.

I like it just as it is-Prince is even more gorgeous in b&w!

Im sure it could be easily converted into colour with some modern video software... "Man, the living creature, the creating individual, is always more important than any established style or system" - Bruce Lee

I love the movie, and think it is great in B&W. Great soundtrack!!!!

semantically speaking, we see the world in color, hence every film is filmed in colour. it's the film that only retains the black and white shades...

It's another urban myth.
Yes, they used color film to shoot Under The Cherry Moon (because the studio was nervous about making a B&W movie, and wanted the option there) But it was processed in black and white BEFORE it was edited. So there is NO color version of the movie (and never will be, unless someone kept all the original negatives and processed them all again in color, then edited the entire movie together again from scratch... not gonna happen). However there were a few early scenes processed in color as well as black and white (and edited together) to show to the studio. It was at this point that they decided to go with black and white as Prince wanted... and that was that.

I think I´ve seen a couple of color pictures of those scenes in some bootleg booklet in the mid 90´s. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I remember distinctly as a child seeing this movie on HBO (way before I got into Prince) sometime in the late 80s that had a scene in B&W with Prince talking with Kirsten Scott Thomas and they both look up at the moon, and it's red (cherry). The only trace of color in the whole movie. Is this a deleted scene, or what? This has driven me crazy for years. Can someone please enlighten me?

its the same also with that some versions you see Kirsten Scott Thomass' nipples and other versions you dont. Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
