ONA Live is credited solely to Prince but the It Ain't Over is credited to Prince & the NPG. The NPGMC releases of Chocolate Invasion & Slaughterhouse are credited to Prince (even though we know songs like Peace were originally part of an unreleased NPG project). C-Note is also a Prince release

No true... you can check for yourself...

Go pick up your copy of ONA Live, have a look at the packaging...who is it
credited to? Nowhere on the packaging does it say just "Prince". It clearly
says on the spine of the CD "Prince and the New Power Generation - One Nite
Alone...Live!"

Also, if you check the download section of the NPGMC, you'll notice that
"The Chocolate Invasion", "The Slaughterhouse" and "C-Note" are not actually
credited to anyone. They are simply titled, with no artist. However, when
C-Note was originally made available in 2002 to club members, the files were
labelled "Prince and the NPG", and the emails sent out to members mentions
the tracks as being by "Prince and the NPG".

Case closed wink

OK, I'll give you ONA Live (not sure how I missed that for all these years), but not C-Note/Slaughterhouse/Chocolate Invasion. Each downloadable song on these is credited as 'Prince' and nothing else. Its embedded in the files that these are 'Prince' albums.

The original C-Note tracks were credited to Prince & the NPG but they were individual files without even an official name for the project and the links were fairly randomly given out - until it was released in the Musicology Store as C-Note, where the tracks are credited solely to Prince (although Prince & the NPG would be more accurate for live stuff).

And then there were 23...

The C-Note one is tenious but I have to side with leecaldon since we're supposed to be ganging up on Boris. The other two are surely just Prince even though theres some NPG and prince on there. Remember Graffiti Bridge? That had stuff from The Time etc. but was just know as a Prince album. Then theres the Vault, another credited solely to Prince which was put together in '96 with old Prince tracks but Sara was recorded at the time while Prince was called O(+.
Ultimate Prince is officially being released in Canada on August 22nd so that'll bump it back up to 24.

Sorry I meant to say that since Ultimate is getting an official release in Canada on August 22nd that'll bump it back up to 24.

Regarding TCI and Slaughterhouse, remember Graffiti Bridge had The Time on it etc. and was regarded as just a Prince album. Then the Vault was put together in '96 with old Prince tracks but had Sara which was recorded in '96 while he was prince.
C-Note is a dodgy one but I'll have to side with leecaldon cos we're supposed to be ganging up on Boris and because it was credited to Prince as an album project when it was released on NPGMC.

I'm afraid the fact that the NPGMC Musicology store downloads contain the
name 'Prince' embedded in the file for C-Note, The Chocolate Invasion and
The Slaughterhouse cannot be used as proof that these albums are soley
credited to "Prince". The reason why is because the same is also true of
the NPGMC Musicology downloads of Crystal Ball and The Truth, so using that
argument would mean you'd also have to include them as "Prince" albums too!

So if we agree that Crystal Ball and The Truth are NOT "Prince" albums, but
"prince" albums, then we cannot use the embedded name as proof of who an album
should be credited to. Therefore we MUST look towards what Prince and NPGMC
have officially said or credited the various download-only albums to.

The fact is that whenever C-Note, and the original individual tracks that
comprise it, have been officially credited to any performer, it has ALWAYS
been "Prince and the NPG", never just "Prince".

The Chocolate Invasion and The Slaughterhouse have ALWAYS been described as
collections of tracks taken from the first year of the NPGMC, and have NEVER
been atributed to a specific artist (whereas other album HAVE been attibuted
to "Prince" or "Prince and the NPG" or "prince" etc.). So we can only conclude
that Prince regards them still as 'compilations' and decided NOT to reclaim
the tracks under the name of "Prince". As when we check both the original file
names for these tracks, and how they were officially attributed on the NPGMC
site itself (which are both consistent with eachother) it's clear that these
tracks are attibuted to various different 'artists'- "Prince", "prince",
and just "New Power Generation".

as I said, case closed. wink

It's worth noting that "the black album" was originally intended to have
no 'official' name (just like The Beatles' "white album", whose correct title
is really just "The Beatles") and was not going to be 'officially' credited to
any particular artist either. However when it was officially released in 1994
it was officially attributed to "Prince" and named the "black album" by WB.

What's your views on the 2 Madhouse albums? I mean, Madhouse is as much a side-project as the NPG, in the sense of massive involvement from Prince if not more-so, IstenSzek listed them and I think was probably right to do so. I think if you're going to include NPG albums in any list then Madhouse should be included also.

True, the Madhouse albums are just as much 'Prince' albums as 'N.E.W.S' was.
Also, I'd say The Time and Sheila E albums are just as much 'Prince' albums
as the first two NPG albums (pretty much Prince writing and playing most of
it, but with someone else singing lead). So here's an updated list, including
all the associated artist albums that feature major Prince input
(i.e. he either wrote the whole thing, or at least more than half of it)...

04-07-78 For You - Prince
10-19-79 Prince - Prince
10-08-80 Dirty Mind – Prince
07-29-81 The Time – The Time
10-14-81 Controversy – Prince
08-11-82 Vanity 6 – Vanity 6
08-25-82 What Time Is It? – The Time
10-27-82 1999 – Prince
06-04-84 The Glamorous Life – Sheila E.
06-25-84 Purple Rain – Prince and the Revolution
07-09-84 Ice Cream Castle – The Time
10-01-84 Apollonia 6 – Apollonia 6
04-22-85 Around The World In A Day – Prince and the Revolution
08-19-85 The Family – The Family
08-26-85 Romance 1600 – Sheila E.
03-31-86 Parade – Prince and the Revolution
01-21-87 8 – Madhouse
02-19-87 Sheila E. – Sheila E.
03-30-87 Sign O’ The Times – Prince
05-26-87 Jill Jones – Jill Jones
11-18-87 16 - Madhouse
05-10-88 Lovesexy – Prince
05-24-89 Time Waits For No One – Mavis Staples
06-20-89 Batman – Prince
07-10-90 Pandemonium – The Time
08-20-90 Graffiti Bridge – Prince
02-19-91 Times Squared – Eric Leeds
09-24-91 May 19 1992 – Ingrid Chavez
10-01-91 Diamonds And Pearls – Prince and the New Power Generation
10-13-92 prince – Prince and the New Power Generation
02-09-93 Carmen Electra – Carmen Electra
07-26-93 Goldnigga – New Power Generation
08-24-93 The Voice – Mavis Staples
09-14-93 The Hits / The B-Sides - Prince
08-12-94 1-800-NEW-FUNK
08-16-94 Come - Prince
11-22-94 “The Black Album” (originally scheduled for release 12-08-87)
03-27-95 Exodus – New Power Generation
09-26-95 The Gold Experienceprince
11-27-95 Child Of The Sun - Mayte
03-19-96 Girl 6
07-09-96 Chaos And Disorderprince
11-19-96 Emancipationprince
02-14-97 Kamasutra – The NPG Orchestra
01-29-98 Crystal Ball / The Truthprince
06-30-98 Newpower Soul – New Power Generation
09-29-98 Come 2 My House – Chaka Khan
08-24-99 The Vault… Old Friends 4 Sale - Prince
11-09-99 Rave Un2 The Joy Fantasticprince
04-29-00 Rave In2 The Joy Fantasticprince
07-31-01 The Very Best Of - Prince
11-20-01 The Rainbow Children - Prince (available as a download through NPGMC 10-16-01)
05-14-02 One Nite Alone… - Prince
12-17-02 One Nite Alone… Live! – Prince and the New Power Generation
01-01-03 Xpectation - Prince (download only)
01-03-03 C-Note – Prince and the New Power Generation (download only)
06-19-03 N.E.W.S - Prince
03-29-04 The Chocolate Invasion (download only, most individual tracks originally available 01)
03-29-04 The Slaughterhouse (download only, individual tracks originally available 01)
03-29-04 Musicology – Prince
03-21-06 3121 - Prince

Just look at how much material he used to release!
take 1987 for example... 4 1/2 albums!
4 albums totally written by Prince, and Sheila's album which was 1/2 Prince
(one of which was a double... which he origianlly wanted to be a triple!)
or 1984... 4 albums almost totally written and played by Prince!

Fantastic list, I counted 62.

Here's 2 more I feel should be added onto the list to bring it up to a round 64. How many of y'all have all 64?

No.55 08-13-02 One Man Jam – 94 East

No.64 03-28-06 Ultimate – Prince

Trying to source the 94 East releases

I Can't seem to find the release date for the original Minneapolis Genius – 94 East which first came out in 1986 and was rereleased on 06-30-92 and 01-01-94.

Other releases by 94 East include:
09-23-97 Symbolic Begining – 94 East Featuring Prince
03-21-00 94 East: The Artist Formally Known as Prince – 94 East
04-24-01 Legends Collection – 94 East
07-24-01 94 East – 94 East & Prince
08-13-02 One Man Jam – 94 East Featuring Prince
07-27-04 If You Feel Like Dancin’ – 94 East Featuring Prince
07-19-05 Lovin’ Cup – 94 East Featuring Prince

Did I miss any others?

I wouldn't count any of those 94 East releases. Other artist albums like
Celine Dion, where he contributed one song, feature more 'Prince' input than
94 East.
