I had never met Berry before the Celebration. As a person that spent more than a little time with her there(and for all those "yeah he got some" kneejerk children's reactions,I never considered it because she had a little class), and she wasn't ANY DIFFERENT than all us hardcore fans.
Not only that,she was passionate and HONEST about everything she said,whether it was right or not..
She treated everybody with GRACIOUSNESS, and I actually found others uncomfortable with her ONLY because they weren't used to others being so open..The ultimate compliment.
She LOVED life.
She LOVED people.
Add to the fact that I saw her pretty much tell a whole room full of people to donate food to Prince's charity,get ME to do it,and the next day seeing people there at the time she told them to be,dumping food in the bins,made me feel pretty FUCKING good about her!
GET OVER the fact that we are all a little "wacked out" about Prince, GET OVER the fact that Tommy "Whoever" is doing "Whoever", GET OVER the fact that someone else is not "like you", and treat people with some goddam RESPECT around here!!

Sorry, I know that's blasphemy to some, but that's how I feel.
I love this site and it IS a lot of fun, but the fact that NPGMC updates its news site once in a blue moon (or so it seems) is a welcome respite from some of the org madness.

I have been trying desparately to figure out why there does seem to be a lack of support and togetherness? Am I alone on this? I have noticed what may be a rotation of people, who knows... something is different though...

gosh, some people around here are just freaks. whats wrong if somebody is friends with somebody in prince's band? if you guys were able to let go that fetish admiration of prince and his musicians than you would find ou that they all are normal people. I am friends with somebody in the current band and that friendship goes back a loong time before that person got the gig with P. so what? I find out a little more than other fans but I keep the shit for myself. I am sure berry does the same if the got close to john. he's a very open brother, I have emailed with him a few times (had nothing to do with prince, just a funk project) and he is pretty mellow. if berry got to now him better --- great for her.
its pretty embarassing how some of you guys react. that "yea, right" or "nigga please" attitude just disqualifies your own integrity. that shows that you guys are simply to insecure to have a personal relation with somebody of public interest. and that shows that you have no clue of the music biz. if you did you would know that the funk biz is like a big family, everybody knows everybody and all are pretty much cool with each other. the rivalry of the old days is over, people are hanging out with each other. no surprise if you are guest at one of maceos parties and prince himself shows up.

Just because this is "online" does not give anyone license to verbally or emotionally abuse another! I believe we all have a responsibility out here. Just as we do face to face. Especially if there is regular ongoing contact. We all come here for our own reasons. But if it is to take your crap out on someone at the expense of their feelings, it is wrong! Communication is the key. When someone upsets me I let them know why. I give them a chance to clarify and to help sort it out, the way people should.

Also, I would like to remind some of you that I am an actor. I am into the arts, especially music. I dig connecting with other artists. I'm currently up for The George Lopez Show and Drew Carey. I'm being hopeful. I know lots of people in the biz, incld. Blackwell. I hope that I am never in a position to have to leave this place, but lately it has come really close. There are so many of you whom I like. Please, we have to stop tolerating the very uneccessary verbal abuse. I know there is no getting rid of it... but try to make a difference. You can be fowl, derogatory and funny, without being seriously hurtful. If we could all be a little more mindful of that I think we would have a much better time out here and a lot less drama.

I agree with Berry, this place is negative and I understand its not pleasant being in the 'firing line'. But I have very little sympathy for Berry when I have witnessed her behaving as equally negatively on other threads. It doesn't just work one way. This site has always been vicious and abusive, it has not become that way just because some of that negativity is making its way toward Berry.

Berry slandered Larry Graham by claiming he was an alcoholic, that I quote 'he was definetly on something'. Is that not abusive? or was that okay because Berry was not the accussed?

Antony7, Listen, I said that I "HEARD" that Larry was an alchoholic. It would have been a lot different had I said "Larry IS" an alchoholic. I also apologized and went above and beyond to negate it. Making a mistake does not warrent a free pass to insult me on a regular basis... or anyone else for that matter.

I don't understand how someone/anyone can post something, apologise (taking it back or correcting it), and not still have credibility...everyone makes mistakes...not everyone owns them and learns from them. What does growth look like to you???

I have not, and do not condone "flaming". You can tell someone how you feel without fingerpointing and abusive dialogue.
