Prince's relationship with Rosie Gaines Do you think Prince will work with Rosie again soon. I know in 1999 they seemed to get hooked up again..with her being on the Rave DVD and on 1999 the new master. I really would love it if she sang on his next record...her voice and his voice go together like....strawberries and champagne!

I always thought that Rosie never got as much help from Prince musically because she was not the typical looking Prince protegee as far as her size and looks. I thought that because she didn't fit this mold that she could be takened seriously, but I guess not .

Unfortuantly I think that was part of the reason..amazing how much push he had for Carmen but ofcourse he had a thing for Carmen...Rosie was married and had kids I think....Rosie Gaines is such a great talent and from what a hear a really cool person.

Rosie is cool , but, even though I really like her and her contributions during the D&P era, I don´t really want to see her working with Prince again simply because she´s too dominant as a singer. She´s an artist in her own right, having her own career, and everytime she does something with Prince it is as if her vocals and presence are overshadowing Prince or the whole show as such.
Same goes for Maceo.....I really like his music, he´s the ultimate sax legend but he´s too much of a star himself. The occasional guest appearance is ok, but , in general, I prefer Eric Leeds in the context of a Prince show. Nothing Compares 2 U sounds sooo much better when Prince sings it alone...not because I don´t like Rosie but because it´s a ballad about a break up and not really meant as a duet. But that´s just my opinion...my favorite version of that song is still the one with Prince on piano from the Nude tour, without Rosie singing some of the lyrics. She´s cool , but she should definitely pursue her own career instead of being remembered as a Prince protege...she´s much more than that. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

If it's the same interview I've seen, she went onto say how frustrated she was that Prince promoted other women proteges instead of her, she was like, when's it my turn? She had an entire album recorded that never came out because of the Paisley Park label going down. No wonder she got frustrated and left.

Rosie's probably still bitter because he left her for Mayte. That's why she's not on the symbol album.

I remember an interview from 1995.She was pissed that her album, recorded for Paisley Park Records, was never released while other female proteges had no problems getting their stuff released."Because I didn't sleep with Prince,my album was never released",she said.

Interesting theory but you are completely wrong.Rosie is not on the 'Symbol' album because she left the NPG after the 'Diamonds And Pearls' tour. She was busy working on her own solo album 'Concrete Jungle'.It was scheduled to be released in March 1994 but was cancelled because NPG Records shut down several weeks before that.

It wasn't anything personal. It's just that Rosie was well over 23 years old at that time, and he needed to move on.

All in all Rosie is very talented and one of the best vocalists he's ever worked with along with Margie Cox. I really dug her voice and the her style of singing she was and still is bad.

BTW, does anyone know if this song is about Abraham Lincoln? i can't be arsed to listen to the single.

Have I ever told you how much I despise Cafe Press? When will people learn. There are better merchandise outlets out there than to choose something so bland and generic of any kind of creativity. I could make better merchandise using duct tape (or krazy glue) and a coffee mug and cd thumb notes. At leas it would be in color OH! (C) Andrew Dice Clay

If you remember, during the Rave gig Prince didn't even look in her eyes. They were strangers on stage. I'm sure she was there just in the hope that Prince would let her back in the group, or in his life. He never lets anyone in his life, because he has this funhouse mirror, where his warped perspective is the only thing that seems beautiful to him. His view of beauty is now a faraway glance into some mean abyss of paranoid religion and selfishness. All you others say Hell Yea!!
