I got news, if it wasn't for independent artists and original music, and the free sharing thereof, there wouldn't be a recording industry, and artists would never make any cash. I am not a fan of the RIAA, and any musician associated with the organization. With the relentless and unnecessary pursuit of file sharing networks, they have created a new sense of fascism and invasion of personal privacy. Audiogalaxy is now liable to comply with the court ruling, and is restricted to only selective mp3 downloads. They, the powers that be, and corporations, are controlling what we are allowed to listen to freely on radio and now on the internet. I understand that artists need fair compensation for their work, but without word of mouth advertising from the sampling buyer and listener, they would have no base. Corporations hand radio stations a format, and they have no choice but to play it, and they have no budging room to play unsigned or independent artists. There is so much propaganda out there right now, and I think that they are scared of people actually being expressive through music. With all of the ridiculous messages in music on radio right now, it is easy to see that point. The thing that finally sparked this was when Lewis (Cloud 9 Mission) recieved a nasty e-mail from the NPGMC about his file sharing. I know that Prince does not control what some of his p-on's do, but that e-mail was uncalled for. I hope that you all get my message about the music situation of this day and age, and I hope that you all see through the wool they are trying to pull over us.

It's like they say; power corrupts and total power corrupts totally! When you get just one or two major corporations who own everything; record companies, radio stations, labels, and can swallow up the likes of Audiogalaxy and Napster etc then there is little freedom so when you get someone like Prince and others who are really going out on a limb and doing their own thing it's something that should be supported and nurtured.

Lets just say that I didnt know what I was doing was wrong & they informed me, thats the way I see it now.

While huge bands and artists can absorb the losses caused by this activity, most professional artists want and need to be paid for the music they create.. if an artist doesnt generate enough money he/she/they will be dropped by their record label, and will probably be unable to record anything else.
