Here's a thread dedicated 2 the greatest Prince song ever... "The Beautiful Ones"...the truth in the lyrics...his singing in the verses...and the climaxes towards the end..."I WANT U!!!"...it is truly THE definite Prince song. The Man said himself that this was his favourite song from "Purple Rain"...so 4 those who truly dig this masterpiece of a song...Discuss. I agree that "The Beautiful Ones" is a great song, its not m y favorite, but it's probably one of my MANY favorites!

I love this song...in fact so much I named my MSN club after it! Well not only that the music to it is awesome, so prince like.

It's a Beautiful song. It has a lot of Passion in it. A longing. Prince is Angry and He's screaming at Appolonia. Stop playing games with my Heart! Is it that man or is it Me? I want you so what is it going to be? Tell me ? Prince tells Apples he still wants her lovin and to bring it on back to him..Wonderful Organ Playing. Gorgeous song. | |

The Beautiful Ones would have to be in his Top 5...the vocal is astounding...I've never heard anyone sing like that, ever...the intensity with which he sings makes others' attempts at portraying such anguish sound unconvincing and lame.
The extended version is even better as it provides a better climax, and has extra ad-libs. Exhilirating. | |

I've always felt that this song should have been the 5th single from 'Purple Rain',instead of "Take Me With U".Both songs are great,but "The Beautiful Ones" is superior,imo. | |

Nope--I am pretty sure that I can handle not fully appreciating a few of Prince's songs rather than give up his entire offering of music  Aren't I allowed to do that, PDC?  Or are we down to "if you don't like every single bit of it, leave"?  I can acknowledge his arrested development, but deeming it "beautiful",in my opinion, is a bit much...and I'm entitled to my opinion and to expressing it. | |

Whoa, I've got to hear it cause this song it the Bomb Diggity. I still get goosebumps when I listen to it. Easily one of his best songs ever. I'm not a fan of "old Prince". I'm not a fan of "new Prince". I'm just a fan of Prince. Simple as that | |
