I checked out the book "Possessed" by Alex Hahn at my local library, and my first impression of it is that it is the "Mommie Dearest" of Prince bios. It seems highly likely that this is/was a disgruntled fan who said to himself one day, "I just can't take it anymore, and I am going to get revenge on Prince for not being who I thought he was." (In other words, "Bad Daddy!")

I brought the book a few months ago and I still haven't gotten past chapter 1. I just don't have the interest to read it at this point. I don't know if I'm missing much since I know a lot already but even if I am, I'm not going to rush and search for it.

Oh, come on, the book is greatly researced. Remember, Alex Hahn himself came on here and took questions. He seemed like a good enough chap.

I just finished it, and it was okay.

Accurate, I felt, in its assessment of things.

Of course, those who feel Prince can do no wrong won't like it.

What does it say about Prince/sussanah?

Did he cheat on mayte?

What songs did he steal?

Did he really verbally attack lisa and wendy, calling them dykes?

Did he ever actually lighten up w/ anyone and have a laugh?

And BTW, I didn't say that I hated the book. In fact, there are some very telling stories about Prince that actually make me warm up to him even more. They show his human side. Especially where the song "Wally" is concerned (if that is indeed truth and not urband legend.)

I'm just sayin' that I think Mr. Hahn was FAR TOO BUSY building a case against the man, and in the meantime he lost his own objectivity.

Hahn obviously only prefers the Revolution period of Prince's career. He has nothing good to say about post-Revolution material. I know people like this who are stuck on the concept of the "group" or "collective". Duran Duran lost much of its popularity when two members quit at the height of their fame and they replaced them. But look how popular they are now that the original members are back together. Same with KISS.

I believe most of what's in the book is true but I also believe there was quite a bit of exaggeration as well.

For me the Book shows the many sides of Prince,
and i believe its true, because if, it wasn't one sided prince bashing
it talked about everything!
It made Prince into a human...

I viewed that book a bit negative yet gossipy.
But at least Hahn is a huge Wendy and Lisa fan so at least he is cool with my book on that issue.
