REDFEATHERS

Prince Songs/Lyrics and the Subconscience

I have just noticed how Prince music has affected me and my lifestyle and how it has entered my subconscience.
For example, I'd just left work today and was walking along the street and started singing the song '17 Days' in my head . I wondered why this had just popped into my mind until I realised the rain was pissing down and I was singing

So let the rain come down, the rain come down
Let the rain come down, down
Let the rain come down, the rain come down
Let the rain come down, down

Funny how I sang that before I actually thought 'Oh it is raining - what shit weather'.

Then I thought I would give my ex a call, he is due back from holiday or he may NEVER come back, I was just wondering if he was back in the country but this song came into my head unexpectedly:
It's so sad but I hate U like a day without sunshine
It's so bad but I hate U cuz U're all that's ever on my mind
Honey, I hate U - Now everyday would be a waste of time
Cuz I HATE U
Then I realsised what a bad idea that would be so decided against it! Thank you Prince!

Waiting for a bus, I was standing there with my umbrella, and the damned thing got caught in my hair...and this is what I was singing,

(This must be sung to the chorus of the song Vibrator..)

Umbrella, why did you get stuck in my hair
Umbrella, do you think I don't care
UMMMBRELLA, my patience is wearing thin
UMMMBRELLA, that's it, your goin' in the bin!

(Only a genius can sing that properly! - so don't slate me yet)

Last Saturday I went to a cafe and this came in my head..
Cynthia had a happy face, just like the one she draws
On every wall, in every school, but it's alright, it's 4 a worthy cause
Go on, Cynthia!
Keep sayin'...

I wanted to know why this one cropped up and hey! when I looked at what I had ordered it was...

wait for it...

Starfish and coffee, maple syrup and jam
Butterscotch clouds and a tangerine, a side order of ham!

No, that one didn't really happen but I just put it in for effect. wink

Do you have any similar experiences???

Oh Red, what a fantastic little rainy day sort of post! It makes me feel all cosy inside!

And although I can't recall any specific examples, such things have happened to me loads too. How much do I want to dance in the rain right now...?

Oh God, that happens to me ALL the time!!! I was making some food to day singing "1999" and I decided to turn on the radio "I listen to the 80's station, Mainley so I can hear Prince" and I was singing "They say 2000, zro zero.." adn I turned on the radio and heard .." party over oops out of time" and I just was sooo shocked at what had happened, lol, no joke! And I have this weird connection with Prince music when I am sleeping... (since I leave the radio on when I sleep) I will be sleeping and all the sudden shoot out of bed FOR NO REASON.. or so I think... and then I will hear a Prince song on the radio... the first few times this happened I thouhgt "weird" and "cool" at the same time, but after about the tenth time I got mad.. IT KEPT WAKING ME UP! and it happens ALL the time, I mean EVERY time his songs come on, my eyes open! But this came in handy one day.. I forgot to set my clock so that I could wake up adn go to work the next day, and I have to wake up at 7 each day to be on time... well I woke up and as soon as my mind started working I thouhgt, CRAP! I woke up but not to my alarm! I ran to the clock and looked... it was exactly 7... "THANK THE LORD" I thought, and then my ears picked up what song was on the radio... When Doves Cry! SO I wasn't late, and the whole day I was thinking " thank you Prince, thank yoy lord, thank you prince, thank you lord.. ect! ALl this happened NO JOKE... whoa, I wrote alot... sry people!

I only have one example of this, but it followed me daily for 6 weeks.

A few years ago I went backpacking through Europe. I didn't have a radio of any sort, so all of the music I heard was chosen by others.

Needless to say, my head was a jukebox gone out of control.

So, everytime I needed a soda. I would say I need a 'pop'. (that's what us Minnesotans call it) and instantly 'Pop Daddy' would be in my head and I'd be singing it for a looong time.

I hated that song by the time I got home! wink

Today somebody cut me up badly on the motorway, I beeped my horn, he gave me the finger, I did a "wanker" sign back at him. Nice way to start the day.

I pushed my cassette in my car stereo, having recently recorded ONA onto tape, it had come to the end of that album and what was recorded on the tape before kicked in. I Wish U Heaven followed by Positivity. Now I am filled with a profound love for all British drivers. :O
Just somewhere in the middle,
Not too good and not too bad.
