Did Prince's music raise your happiness level in life?

I don't know who I would be into today. I have always loved loved funk music, my first love was George Clinton, then Sly, I always loved Stevie Wonder, Curtis Mayfield and Earth Wind and Fire. But it was only Prince's music that moved me more than the others, and made me just happy listening to it. There's no one out there now that I'm crazy about and I truly believe if there was never "Prince" I would be in a music void today. I must truly say his music and performances in concert and on TV has been a major contributing factor to my happiness as a human being. God is good, Music and gifted musicians are one of the greatest gifts he gave us.

Were your spirits lifted to a happier level because of Prince's music?

at times in the past, though not so much these days. i mean, the concerts are always a source of instant happy for me, but in terms of albums? the last one to give me a sincere, intense, lasting rush of The Happies was probably the batman soundtrack...and even that was mainly a hangover from 'lovesexy'.

Between the years 1981 and 1989, yes!!!
Since then not much of the music or lyric's has been very deep, to me.
Prince does not raise my happiness level anymore, but being on the org sure does.
I knew a girl named Nikki.

From 1999 (the album) up to and including The Hits/B-Sides, I got a complete and total rush of euphoria getting a new Prince album. There was an absolute newness to the music while being familiar at the same time, which I liked.

This would have been age 12 to age 22 for me, which might have a lot to do with it.

Now that I'm approaching 35, I find that all good music raises my happiness level in life - thru enjoyment of new sounds to challenging/heartfelt lyrics (which I think have been missing in P's music for a little while).

I wouldn't say Prince made me who i am today, or anything, but his music definetly makes me a happier person. How could U NOT be happy listening.

Ya know what, maybe he kinda does play a roll in who I am (his music that is).

Interesting question.

Music aside, I think being a Prince fan made me more open to new ideas, tolerance, and creativity.

I'm a graphic designer now -- not saying being a Prince fan made me into one, but there are similarities.

Also, being a Prince fan after the Purple Rain heyday was over was tough . . . had to endure a lot of teasing which in turn made me not only more thick-skinned, but made me appreciate Prince even more! Only lately has he become cool again to non-fans.

I have to say yes! Prince's music has kinda of always been the "soundtrack" of my life. When good things are going on...Prince's music is there to help me enjoy. When bad things are going on...Prince's music is there to get me through. I really can't (and don't want to) imagine what kind of a person I'd be had there not been Prince but I do know I wouldn't be the person that I am now.

Is that giving Prince way too much credit? No...I know there are plenty of other factors that molded me, but even then Prince's music was always somewhere close.

Yes, absolutely. When I'm on a "Prince kick" like I am right now, I'm very very happy. His music is mostly what I'm listening to right now, and as always, there are things I can laugh at that normally I'd be furious over. And there are other things too; just turning on an album of his can be like instant energy for me.

Yes, when really really got into Prince again (early 2003). It was a period of change in my life, and his music was kind of the soundtrack to a very happy period of my life

Alot of his earlier stuff - the more racier and funky stuf - certainly does it for me - songs like 'feel u up', 'anotherloverholeinyohead', 'hide the bone' etc etc etc just make me want to run around like a lunatic
his music always cheers me up..... lol excited

yes Living, Love and God make me happy too. Yet there's something extra special about Prince and his music. cool
The content in Prince's musical messages can aid in transcending tons of negative emotions, situations and misunderstandings. It can provide a new, better, different perspective on life.
Prince has the ablilty to reach us through his lyrics along with the sounds he creates. He can touch our hearts and aid our souls in the attempt to rise above or go beyond the limits of ordinary understanding. Prince's music is like a tool that can help us to OVERCOME, extend or exceed the ordinary limits of our consciousness. Open up, let the music in.

Once i finally started to understand what he meant in the music instead of just hearing it and knowing the words it did. He kinda help change the way i looked at life. b-sides he always has a song that envolves a similiar exerience of what i was going through and it made me feel better that i was not alone in the world.

I remember one of my first times with a girl.
Being so young, I wasn't too confident whether I should've made a move on her or not.
As soon as I slipped a Prince casstte into the stereo,
& this girl was all over me.

On that day,
I realized the power that his music has in 'raising' one's 'happiness'.
