Although 90% of Prince's output has been freaking great,, I must say that I am always surprised 2 c people name Chaos and Disorder as their least favorite release.

It seems 2 ME that Rave is the worst.

This album is just so emotionally empty 4 me. There's nothing funky about it...except maybe Prettyman..but who wants that when there's "The Work"?

And Prince tries 2 make it an all-rock album but there's no hard edge 2 it...Hans Buff even said it was mostly rock-oriented...yet Prince sounds stifled on guitar. I can't stand it. "STOP HOLDING BACK!" I feel like saying.

Now we've chalked its shittiness up 2 the fact that it was a commercial album and P was trying 2 cater 2 the younger people who may have rediscovered his music thru that album BUT I've only heard of maybe 2 people who ever started liking him because of that album! YUCK!!! It sickens me 2 think there r albums like Gold or freaking Old Friends 4 Sale that people should b listening 2. But no, he promotes a shit album. I'd even rather have him promote TRC than that.

And TRL seemed like such a waste of a TV appearance. Prince has said himself in a radio interview "MTV hates me"...so what's up with that? The mere fact that Carson Daly is a goon should have made Prince reconsider that move.

I've probably mentioned how I will sometimes listen 2 it just because it looks at me with those sad, lonely eyes saying "Play me..please play me"...or "Blow the dust off me" which sounds somewhat sexual but anyway...I can't play this album anymore!

uhhh, liked it Nep2nes. it wasn't an album that u'd instantly liked becuz u had 2 listen 2 what "HE" was SAYIN... like the lyrics...the music isn't all that damn bad...gee...i dunno mayB just believe n LISTENING 2 what "HE"'s sayin...not that u don't of course...oh & um...hadn't "HE" just broken up with the love of "HIS" life around that tyme Yeh...i think so...if u LISTEN 2 what lil man's sayin'...u can hear the emotion in the song.
"i" am 1 of those PRINCE fam's that study his music as well as enjoy it...

yea i see what you're sayin Nep but i do not hate it at all. true, a lot of it is crap but the more i listen to it, the easier it is to listen to. it was all hyped up on love4oneanother.com to be a step back to his roots and his sound of days past or whatever but i was not impressed for a long while.

the remix album was like a spoonful of sugar and made the medicine of the original go down alot easier. but it is still one of his lesser than great albums IMO.

and, correct me if i'm wrong CMK, but didnt he and Mayte split after "Rave"???

I couldn't wait to buy Rave after hearing The Greatest Romance...I bought it, read all the song titles wondering what they were like, got all excited...

I hardly listen to it nowdays. It was such a disappoint for me.

I like TGRES and I Love U But I Don't Trust U...but songs like Hot Wit U, The Sun, The Moon And Stars, Every day Is A Winding Road, Silly Game, Wherever U Go Whatever U Do leave a lot to be desired!

It's not the worst album he's done, I did hate "Everyday Is A Winding Road", tho.

"Baby Knows" was the jam on that one, and "Hot Wit U", "Sun Moon,Stars..", "So Far, So Pleased" and "PrettyMan" were slammin'!

I liked it, anyway.

If U can't tolerate the Rave CD then edit the throwaways and U have 45 minutes of great tracks...same with NPS

It was ok but really not worthy of him.

I remember I bought this cd during my 'non-Prince fan' years (1996-2001). I only bought it cause there was a large poster of it up in the Virgin megastore in Times square, NYC and I'd seen him introducing TLC at the MTV awards. And I thought 'why not, I'll give Prince another go' and I was promptly disappointed by it. IMO it was so bland and forgettable. So I forgot about Prince for another 2 years...

Rave In2 The Joy Fantastic was a lot better than Rave Un2.
When I bought Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic I was only familiar with the title track through the classic small club performance from 88, so I hated the album version. At least Rave In2 had some life to it (but still could've been better). Beautiful Strange is great (though I prefer the original video version). He should've dropped Silly Game instead of Strange But True though. And the whole album would benefit from a bit of re-sequencing.

Disagree with 90% of the reviews of
this CD. Prob not HIS best effort, but
it's still the best CD that came out

It's about what your ears are listening for. I love this disc. Two words that haunt me and I just keep listening to it over and over; Beautiful Strange.
