I am SO bummed out about the fact there is conversation during that long intro to I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man. I would LOVE to see a conversation-less version of THAT hit the NPGmc...

You mean you didn't like Cat's wonderful acting? biggrin

"But Wally, what am I gonna do??"

I love that Witness 4 The Prosecution murmurs that start the song off,though...

It Wally though; "She want me to TALK too her!" Bitch Wally. Makes me wanna hit him.

I would bitchslap Cat just for fun.

How many people on here saw SOTT in the theatre when it was first released?

There was only like 3 others screening it when i saw it.

I saw this film twice in theatres. The first time, there were only 5 other people in the theatre. The second time, there were only three people. It's a fantastic concert movie, but I don't think it was promoted very well.It probably would have done better if it had been released in the summertime.

yeah i thouht that was in Alex Hahn's book that Prince had the band go back 2 Paisley Park & had them re-record the whole movie.

Apparently, the live footage that he shot couldn't be used.So he went back to Paisley Park and re-shot most of the show.

Apparently we had more Prince fans down here than where you are. I saw it twice also and both times there were around 10, maybe 15 people at the most. lol

I thought it was a good movie and album but the low attendance definately proves that many people (including Prince fans) had already dropped Prince, despite how worshipped the album is on this site. lol

Thing is, I saw all the Dutch SOTT concert, I cannot even remember if the movie actually played in Holland. I saw it on video for the first time.

I seen this the first night it came out in the Metro-Detroit area. Pretty cool! When this came to video I hooked up my tape deck and made a copy to tdk of this so I could listen to it in my car. The best part is Hot thing and Forever in My Life (great version).

This made some of the things on the lp that I didn't like come to life and I enjoyed them better on the film.

I do not know if the concerts in Utrecht were the only ones in a stadium, but the lighters flashing on the beat on that extended intro of Forever In My Life is still ace. Just thinking about that stadium flashing on the beat, like a bowl of light still gives me goosebumps. Not even the movie can reacapture THAT moment...

that movie was Prince in genius mode because what was captured on film was a perfect way to display a conceptual album/tour. that to me is Prince at his best giving us a look into his thoughts on love and sex.

Honestly.... and I feel bad for saying this to all of you who love it.. but I don't understand what's so great about it. The "dramatic vignettes" are an annoyance, I hate the way Prince looks.. whats up with the weird hair and glasses and navajo Indian feather earring? He just looks strange (ha, imagine that). The music is alright, I guess, but I've never understood all the hype about SOTT, the film OR the album.

Hrm. Maybe I'm just weird?

Maybe you're right, perhaps a straight forward concert should have been released. guitar But Prince looked awesome during that period, it was one of the best times. headbang

I saw SOTT on the first night of it's release in Nashville,Tn at the late ,lamented, Fountain Square theaters.

I lived 47 miles away and drove back twice to see it before it left the theaters.

The video came out two days before I graduated high school and we watched the video the night we graduated.

Damn it has been almost 20 years.
