SOTT the concert/movie

I, ve just bought it and watched it for the first time and I am amazed as usual. TIt, s phenomenal and I completely fell in love with If I was your girlfriend, which is a song I had never really liked before!
And Sheila is ROCKS!!!!! UNBELIEVABLE!
My favourites are
Housequake
It, s gonna be a beautiful night
If I was your girlfriend.

i could do without the storylines and the segue/vignette thingies, but at least it's kept to a minimum. the performances are fantastic. i wish this film would have gotten more attention.

This movie and era really put it into perspective how amazing Prince was/is. Like when you compare it to the 3 chains of gold era or whatever...it just blows it out of the water. I love Mayte and all and lots of those songs but against Sign of the Times it really just doesn't stand a chance. Prince is just fantastically entertaing throughout the whole movie. And that band was his best band ever imo. biggrin

If I remember rightly, this film was only made to make it up too his British fans for cancelling 2 shows at Wembley Stadium because of the weather and it was made in a very short space of time.

How many people on here saw SOTT in the theatre when it was first released?

There was only like 3 others screening it when i saw it.

I saw it before it went to video.

Some guys rather took the piss by getting out their ciggy lighters and swaying on occasions.

I bought the dvd of it about 18 months ago,I thought the sound quality on that was crap too, but I think a remastered version of it has been issued, I haven't bought it yet, it must be better though. smile

Yeah I was at the Dominion on Tottenham Court Road in London on the first night it was shown. I still have my heart shaped Sign O' The Times badge that was handed out to everyone that turned up smile

Does anyone know how much of the music is actually "live"? There seems to be an awful lot of overdubbing going on.

Really,90%, I would have never guessed it was that much. That is kinda disappointing to me. Oh well, I still love it.

The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I love all the pastel colors and neon lights throughout the whole movie. It's not just the music (which is fantastic), I also love how it was shot on film.

My Fav part is definitely the guitar solo at the end of ICNTTPOYM

I am SO bummed out about the fact there is conversation during that long intro to I Could Never Take The Place Of Your Man. I would LOVE to see a conversation-less version of THAT hit the NPGmc...
