Has P ever had any problems with drugs or drugs?

It seems Prince has been one of the only major stars that has never had a period of heavy drugs or drinking

Even back to Purple Rain we see Prince warning against drinking - "don't drink that stuff"

does he abstain from controlling substances or just keep his use well under control

Though he is not a "heavy" druggie or drinker (especially now being a JW), he did have a trip with ecstacy back in 1987, which ultimately led to the delay of "The Black Album."

Or more accurately, it was rumoured but not confirmed that he took extacy one night which led to some odd behaviour.

The rest of the time, Prince has been consistently against drugs in his songs and real life. Apparently he does drink alcohol, a few glasses of wine or whatever, but from what bandmates have said it is quite rare.

So I would say, no, he's never had a problem with drugs or drink, which shows you can be a celebrity or popstar and not get sucked into that life if you don't want.

Other stars confirmed not to have drug / drinking problems :-
1. Bryan Adams
2. Bruce Springsteen
3. Jon Bon Jovi
4. Tina Turner
5. Madonna
Add to the list.....

In fact, if I remember correctly, the book, 'Rock and Roll revealed' - the outrageous lives of Rock's biggest stars, praised Prince and Tina Turner for living a clean life without drugs and drinks and ciggies despite being superstars, don't know much about Turner, but Prince has consistently voiced his opinion against intoxicants, although subtly, through his music.

well I just watched the Gangsta Glam/Clockin' the Jizz video at HQ and he must have been on some sort of CRACK to let that thing see the light of day. eek lol
The check. The string he dropped. The Mona Lisa. The musical notes taken out of a hat. The glass. The toy shotgun painting. The things he found. Therefore, everything seen–every object, that is, plus the process of looking at it–is a Duchamp.

I believe it may have been an issue on NME. If I'm not mistaken the cover featured a quote from Prince saying "Eye want people 2 think Eye'm crazy.".

Hey white wine / red wine / champagne etc are just ceremonial drinks which are taken to celebrate and not to get 'high', even non-drinkers are known to have an occ glass or two of wine on special events. So taking two glasses of white wine does not count towards a 'drinking' problem in my humble opinion. But reading various interviews of people he has worked with more or less confirms the fact that he is a non-drinker and a non-smoker.

that fact that he has not allowed his career to be impeded or fettered down by drugs and/or alcohol makes me love him even more.
he has shown that
his talent is real and
not artificially induced.
love him
love his music
love the way he is.
he's set a positive profile in the world of the arts and entertainment.
i thank u Prince for being u. prince

Thanks for that. To put the whole quote in context, here it is, read into it what you will:

What about drugs? Do you take drugs?

"I'm interested in all experiences."

Can I take that as a yes?

"I didn't say that. I don't think people are interested. I'm not interested if you take drugs. I think we'd better chill it there."

But you're an icon.

0{+> stops laughing.

"What did you say?"

I said, a lot of people see you as an icon. There's only a handful of people in the world in your position.

"I don't see myself as an icon. I don't see that. Do people care if I take drugs? People aren't interested in me. I didn't put myself on a pedestal. If I'm on a pedestal it's because other people have put me there."

Prince was influenced by the greatest artists of all the time, and learn many things from them

And one of those things was don't use drug or shit like that if you don't wanna kill your own career
