It has been said that Prince was estranged from his father John L.Nelson for sometime during his career;is this true. Also, after the takeoff of Prince's career especially after the release of Purple Rain was he still close to his immediate relatives and natural born parents Mattie Shaw and John L. Nelson? I heard that he has helped his sister Tyka Nelson through some difficult times? Is this also true.

It's my understanding that he connected with both parents before their deaths, but I don't know this for sure. And I did read a post at Housequake that said he helped his sister through her rehabilitation from drugs.

Not to say he helped his sister to get off drugs, but when she needed financial help.

I've often heard over the last twenty years that his relationship with his whole family was not good, but who can speculate. If it's true I just hope that he has come to terms with it somehow .
