ORANGE Amps? What's up with these ORANGE Amps Prince has been using? I looked them up (assuming ORANGE was the name of the company) and found nothing. Anyone know anything about them? Not A Newbie, Just Reinvented

They were all the rage in Britain like five years ago.

Hmmm, I'd say a bit longer than that. http://www.youtube.com/wa...%20sabbath "The first time I saw the cover of Dirty Mind in the early 80s I thought, 'Is this some drag queen ripping on Freddie Prinze?'" - Some guy on The Gear Page

I think Prince is just cashing in. Wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't have a Fender endorsement, too.
Neither affiliation is doing much for his tone, though. sub/verb agreement edit... [Edited 7/1/06 7:46am]

I believe these amps were all the rage in the sixties and seventies. I think The Doors and Stevie Wonder used to use. Oasis made them fahionable again.

Madonna is using them on her current tour. Not sure what that signifies, just thought I'd mention it. "I would say that Prince's top thirty percent is great. Of that thirty percent, I'll bet the public has heard twenty percent of it." - Susan Rogers, "Hunting for Prince's Vault", BBC, 2015

I'm not a fan of the Orange sound... 2 much midrange... kind of snotty sounding, and just 2... loose... I loved the parts he was playing on the Chaka tribute, but the tone was 2 muddy, with 2 much bite. I think I'll have 2 keep listening though... just 2 make sure it's not just something I'm not used 2. Imagine Prince through a MESA Rectifier stack... That would be the BOMB. His rythym playing would sound great through a mic'ed Fender Twin, as well. "He's a musician's musician..."
