Random Prince-ness Every time I listen to "Alexa de Paris," it reminds me of the movie Labyrinth and I think of how well it would've fit in that movie. The Normal Whores Club

I wore out my Parade tape in high school rewinding my favorite part in "Anotherloverholenyohead" over and over and over:

I managed a record store when Emancipation came out, and I took the life-sized cardboard cutout promo home. Then I felt weird about him staring at me all the time, and I gave it away. The Normal Whores Club

when i was in 12th grade, the theme for my school's senior prom was party like it's 1999 (was there any school in the u.s. that didn't have "1999" as their prom theme song back in '99?). there was a contest to design the picture that would end up on the back of the prom t-shirts that the prom committee would be selling. i drew this picture of a girl all dressed up, '80s style, with a purple background with white dots (like the 1999 album cover)...it was pretty decent, plus it had one of the colors that were part of the prom layout (purple & silver).
i lost to a fella who drew all these little thugged-out characters. it totally didn't coincide with the theme!

When I have housecleaning to do and need motivation, I always play "Come."
It never fails to get me going. You should mop that, baby! The Normal Whores Club

when lovesexy first came out in 1988:
--i remember seeing the albums out in full display (behind the counter on some shelves, no less)...i looked up at the display and was like "wow!" --when the video for "alphabet st." started playing on friday night videos i remember liking it simply because of the flying letters in the background. i was only 7 years old and i thought it was just the coolest thing.

When I listen to "The Everlasting Now" in the shower, I jump up and down. Because I always do what Prince tells me to do. I hope I don't slip and crack my skull one day. [Edited 6/30/06 12:22pm] The Normal Whores Club

[Edited 6/30/06 12:22pm] yeah Prince is the best, in the shower, *flashbackofthe"showerandcrucifix"poster*...gaaaaah! i've nicknamed my dirty mind t-shirt "the storyteller shirt" because whenever i wear it, i always get random people coming up to me on the street or wherever and telling me a story about prince (usually along the lines of "my best friend's cousin went to school with 'im"). the weirdest instance i've had while wearing it is one day when i was at target and standing in line to pay for some stuff i bought--there was this older lady in front of me and she's like, "hey, where'd you get that shirt from, paisley park?" i was like "no, i bought it from a friend." she's like, "oh cool!" and then she goes on to tell me about some baby pictures of prince at home (i think she knew a relative of his or something...s'possible, mpls is a small place). "i could make you copies of the pix, if you want...you can't have the originals." i was like "huh?" and politely turned down her offer. it was just weird, man.

Umm there's this AWESOME gelato place down the street from me and in the summertime I go down fairly often to get me some o' that creamy goodness...I always get a raspberry sorbet but it usually goes down like:
"Yeah, could I have a small raspberry bere-SORBET." I swear it happens every single time. So much that I'm pretty sure the people working there expect it every time I order. and "So glam, it's absurd" is an in-joke with me and my friends, yet they have no clue where it's from. I'm pretty sure they think I came up with it. [Edited 6/30/06 15:50pm]
