Gold Dolphin Shhh Gold should have been put out when I Hate U was put out. I still contend that I HAte U was a terrible single. Not a terrible song but a terrible single. I don't think it represented the package as a whole. Just another mid-tempo R and B ballad, one of too many that P released as lead singles. By the time Gold came out, the support for the project had waned. It's a shame because I remember one of the few times I heard Gold on the radio, the DJ was glowin about the song and said it was going to be huge. It never had a chance. With Gold doing well, he could have continued to hit Top 40 radio with Dolphin, which, dumb lyrics aside, sounded like it should have been on radio. He could have done what he did with Diamonds and Symbol, a single to Pop and a single to R and B. That would have been the time to release I Hate U. Shhh would have done real well on R and B, probably not as well on Pop but with other hit singles before it, who knows? Another album of missed opportunities. All good things they say never last...

I really don't think TGE had a great uptempo single on it. Those were great, daring songs but I don't see the radio potential. Mainly because of the lyrics and because they were quite different from all of the other stuff that was out then. "319" was often named as the potential single, but I think it was picked up by people because it was just the closest one to "Kiss" that the album had on it. There was also too much screaming on the album for radio, obviously.
