Is Prince too old fashioned in his musical outlook?.

I've listened constantly this year to the ONA boots inc aftershows, regular shows and soundchecks and the admirable message that is hammered home time and again is 'real music by real muscicians'. Fair enough , but by not using his vast talent to embrace technology in his music do you think , as i do, that he is missing out in creating some far reaching , challenging music and as a result coming across as old fashioned. Look at Bowie and how he has embraced trends, not always successfully , and merged it with his own unique style. Dont get me wrong, you know i love the man but i think he can push the envelope even further if he looks forward and not back to the old skool.

I don't think he's too old fashioned. Heck, during the 80's, he was about 15 years ahead of everyone.
Now that he's gotten older, I think the new technology stuff is like a "been there, done that" thing to him & he's enjoying getting back to the basics with real musicians & real instruments.

I think he is surrounding himself with too many older acts and this is clearly rubbing off on his music.

Would like to see him work with newer acts - show them the right way so to speak.

I think the time for Prince to start using "new" technology again could be just around the corner. Who knows?

Having said that, I remain unimpressed with what is currently being achieved by debutantes in the studio using so-called new technology these days. Perhaps the time is not yet right to embark on any excursions into what's deemed to be "cutting-edge" (cast your mind back to the drum n' bass "movement" here in the UK and see how it went out with a whimper instead of a bang).

The thing became too old far too quickly, a bit like Dolly the cloned sheep!
