I Have finally seen Prince in concert!!!!


It was awesome.

Brother man came out with the torquoise and pink outfit and rocked my world. His band was tight (including Tamar and his dancers), and whoever did Prince's makeup did a great job. But now this event didn't come without a few flaws. While I did enjoy seeing the man, this concert could've been a whole lot better for me.

He only did 3 tunes as you probably know by now, which wasn't enough for me. I understand that there were time constraints with the GMA program and all that, but only 3 songs? Another thing was the sound was bad. The sound people wouldn't turn their volume up, I guess because they were taping for TV and all that. But I felt bad for those in the back (including one of my orger friends) because they probably couldn't hear him. Also, that damn camera rig was blocking mine as well as other peoples views. Yeah, I know they were taking panoramic shots of the crowd, but goddamn, get out the way. Also, someone had a banner that blocked many folks views too. Plus the sun was out, which was beautiful, but at the same time was so hot and bright that I had to watch the show with my hand over my head to block its brightness. It was those flaws that annoyed my concert experience. But otherwise it was pretty cool. While it seemed very brief I finally did get to see my musical hero, and it was incredible. My brother actually brought his video camera and got some really good footage of the show. I asked him to burn me a copy.

But you know what? I would rather see Prince in a theater. Maybe I'll enjoy him a little more than this.

i can't believe you live in ny and have never seen prince! how is that even possible? you practically have to go out of your way to miss the guy in that city!

its cool you got to check out the bryant park spot, though! hopefully this will be the impetus for you to get yo' house in order and see the man the next time he plays nyc!

Thanks guys for the congrats. What, is it not usual that a life-long Prince fan had never seen their hero live before (up until last Firday)? In the past I kept missing opportunities to see him for many different reasons. But it was nice to finally catch him in action. Now I can say I've seen all 4 of my heroes: Prince, Morrissey, Joe Strummer, and David Byrne.

Congratulations on seeing Prince live for the first time. It's a shame it had to be that particular performance, so short. Unfortunately, this is a series of really short concerts and they likely have limits on duration and noise level due to the time and place. I hope you see him live at a proper concert in a great venue soon.

I know...when I saw Prince in concert earlier this year for the first time I though "Ok I can die now!" LOL! Seriously exciting and it is an experience I'll always carry with me.
