does 3121 deserve consideration for best r&b album, best r&b male singer..etc?

i say no. it's better than most of the other stuff that passes for instant grammy-nomination status nowadays, but still...it ain't that good.

'sides, we got a whole 'nother....what, 8 months or so before worrying about grammy stuff, don't we?

Musicology gained Prince 2 of his 6 career grammies, and that album didn't really have any hits. 3121 is arguably a better album with better reviews - and there doesn't seem to a huge amount of good stuff out this year so far - so it certainly should get 1 or 2 nominations. You would think with all the schmoozing Prince has done with entertainment insiders at his private parties, his name would come up in any discussions by the committee for nominations...

i don't really see the point of giving him grammys anymore at this stage

if they didn't give him a grammy for The Rainbow Childen or anything he
did from Lovesexy up to Musicology, than why bother?

Why not? It just as good if not better than most of the work that is nominated nowadays-so let Prince get another one too .

No. Only bullshit wins awards these days. Prince doesn't need to even be mentioned in the same breath as these people because he is far above them.

Prince doesn't get to choose whether he gets nominated or not. There are plenty of music insiders who are desperate to be mentioned in the same breath as Prince and go up against him at awards. It's a justification for them as much as anything.
