Question for fans who fell off the purple wagon and then later got back on... what made you lose interest and what made you come back?

decline in quality of the music made me fall off, plus i couldn't afford the club at the time.
and to be honest, what made me come back was someone who gave me a truckload of bootleggage. i got reprogrammed QUICK.

Hey sitruk7
Ummm for me I don't know. As a kid I was SOOOO into his music..he was my favorite entertainer...I got super excited whenever I saw a new video of his or heard his songs on the radio. Whenever I went to a library I'd scan rock bios hoping I'd find something on him. I loved to read about rock stars and their lives and I just think he had facinating things to say and really looked up to him. Oh yeah..and the fact that he is the most handsome man on the universe helps too HA! He was my dream man. I don't know I lost track of him and his music in my late teens...I went through a real angry period in my life for a while and got into drugs and kept running away from home and droped out of high school for a while (but eventualy went back whoo hoo). The music I was listening to at the time was pretty angry to go with my life I guess...I guess Prince's positive spirtual message I didn't want to hear and forgot. When I got my life in order and became happier I guess it only seemed natural to abandon negative things in my life and Musicology came out and I was like "OH yeah Prince! What has he been up too?" So I got Musicology and really liked it. I'm really happy I did because I've learned alot from Prince about how to have confidence being yourself. Prince rocks!

I became a fan during the Prince album after seeing him in concert on Rick James' tour. I kicked him to the curb in '86. My interest was renewed in 2004 due to the hype surrounding the RRHOF induction and the tour.

I was a huge fan as a kid/teenager. Graffiti Bridge was the last album I bought. I then got married and got saved and started going to church. I quit listening to Prince at this time. Looking back, I see that I didn't miss much.
I started getting into him again in about 1997, I think. I can't quite remember the exact year, but prince.org played a big part of it. I became a member of the PPML at that time and soon my Prince obsession was in full swing again. Thanks alot, Org.

When he didn't tour the states for 'Sign' I guess I sort of either lost interest or forgot about him. Found a Black Album bootleg and have been hooked ever since.

i was die hard until he put out new power soul and started plugging larry graham so much. the jehovah's stuff really turned me off.
it seemed like he wasn't the same artist anymore, which is fine because everyone evolves, but he started rejected the things that i most responded to: sexual awareness and freedom, individuality, respect for others. im definitely back on the boat, though im not fully into this new phase. the album is good, but i want him to lose tamar and focus on guitar and promoting 3121. im also really nervous that the overly religious, preachy P is going to rear his head soon.....he's been away too long..
