Is Prince really a hippie at heart?

Did it ever occur to anyone that Prince is really a sweet down to Earth Guy and really a hippie? Henceforth Larry from Woodstock, Lenny, and Mani? I guess my man Prince is like those power flower children of the sixties. Hence the long white flowing gown. Where are the Jesus sandles Prince? Is this a return to the 60s or 70s revival he is creating? What do you fans think? Remember Prince with Maria Muldauer Midnight at the Oasis? Joni's Case of You.

I agree. yes, i think he is rather a hippie at heart. think the incence, the psychedelic images on the screen, lava lamps... he still uses the peace and love signatures in his club emails. however, he doesnt do the heavy drug usage of the 60's, the free sex with one and all. pp IS a kind of woodstock event though. those were much easier times than now, much more love, not just sex, and a generation that tried to bring a "sort of utopia" of peace to the world, but didnt quite make it.
May the BELLS ring 4 U even when ur not in love. hug kisses

Wow Belle you brought this topic back to life. That was definitely the vibe Paisley was suppose to convey but it wasn't fully appreciated and I for 1 would rather have Hollywood. I'm not 1 for Dirt. Give me Uptown anyday instead of Downtown. I'll take the A-train so to speak.

Hippie ...NO.
He's the utmost clever chameleon of love, style and intrigue in pursuit of truth.

Novabreaker

One in Toronto, another one in Spain (though he might have sold it when he divorced that what's-her-name) and of course at least one in Minnesota (he probably also retained back his ownership on the purple house where John L. Nelson used to live).

Now, if this isn't trivia what is?

I don't think Prince *is* a hippie.

But looking at his work, he seems te be at least interested in hippies as a movement, trying to create a society based on love.

The Pop Life album seems to show that and names like The New Power Generation and The Rainbow Children seem to point that way.

But in the end, the best example seems to be in the Bible.

My point of view is that every society is always based on evil systems, where people live with big egos but good hearts.

Agreed. Real hippies do not live a life of wealth and privilege. Hippies are known for living communal lifestyles and becoming one with nature is also associated with that kind of lifestyle.

If Prince was really a hippie, Paisley Park would not be run the way it is -- it's like a ghetto fab operation in the middle of the rapidly growing middle class suburb.

If Prince was really a hippie, there would be up and coming artists and artisans spending the summers at Paisley, learning the business and just being one with one another contributing to the ambiance and vibe of Paisley. But that's not the way it is. There may be peace symbols, doves, and clouds but it's just for show.

Prince has a huge studio complex that is basically his private playground. He shares his bounty with a select few, such as the Grahams, but Paisley is far from being a Hippie Haven.

IF Paisley Park really was this way as you state above and more Artist's would record there and make videos or films and it was as Prince originally planned it to be this would be a Beautiful, beautiful thing.
