Prince in Michael Jacksons 'Bad'

Hi All...

Now I don't know if this has been mentioned on the boards before.... I appologise if it has in advance!

Today I purchased the special edition of M.J.'s Bad album(was replacing some old vinyl).... and included are some bonus tracks etc....one being an interview with producer Quincy Jones

Apparantly Quincy Jones wanted Bad to be a duet with Prince...he wanted it to show the kick ass attitude of the rivalry between them...they even set up an interview with his royalness to discuss the idea....Prince listened to the song and said... this song will be a hit without me...and that was that!

Prince obviously didn't fancy the idea at all....he probably knew M.J wouldn't change the song title to bad mutha fucka

But then again...Prince has been kicking Michaels ass musically for years....

Yes, it's true. Prince was supposed to be on Bad with Michael Jackson but he backed out of it. Probably for the best.

and this exemplifies the immaturity and insecurity of Prince fans, because they have to incessently degarde every other musician just to feel good about Prince. NEWS FLASH: every other musician doesn't have to suck for Prince to be great.

can an objective discussion be had without your bias being injected. that last comment added nothing to the topic.

If I remember correctly, Prince addresses this very issue in his interview with Chris Rock. He said something like "I read the first line to the song and it said 'Your butt is mine' and I was like 'I ain't singing that to you and you sho as hell ain't singing that to me'" ... or something like that biggrin
It is not known why FuNkeNsteiN capitalizes his name as he does, though some speculate sunlight deficiency caused by the most pimpified white guy afro in Nordic history.

Prince rejected the duet, but he submitted the song "Wouldn't U Love 2 Love Me" to Michael for possible inclusion on the 'Bad' album.Somehow,I could never imagine Mike singing that song, lol.

and where did ALL appear in my condemnation. again, another defensive, far too sensitive Prince fan. that's the norm around here.

hmm, one misspelled word and one mis-typed word. in the absence of anything sound or valid to say, one must criticize such trivial points. you should work on your ability to critique content instead of your ability to critique technicalities of grammar, it will serve you far better in life, in conversations, at parties and other various social interactions, and professionally...unless you are an editor.

I'm gon tell you y Prince was not in it. IF they had a dance off most of the moves would be the same cuz they both learned from James Brown. Second Prince would have to sing like Micheal Jackson 4 it to fit. Imagine Prince singing high notes in that song or extra low. It wouldn't sound right. lol

yeah it would have been a whole bunch of "he-he's" mixed with "owww wa's"...just a big ole' mess....especially with MJ trying to "shamon" all over Prince's lusty growl....and we know P wouldn't be having that...he'd pull out that blk cloud guitar and knock MJ down with it before playing his guitar solo.... lol lol lol

Who even told Micheal Jackson he could stand next to Prince? Prince can part a sea with his guitar! Micheal thought this thing was all about light skin and good looks..... well i guess he found out tha hard way. Get Well soon Micheal! .....(I cant miss what I cant measure, my lord, Dont get Mad, get new trash bags, and get Glad!)

I never heard that but it would have been interesting to see Prince and MJ together. But the rivalry is old news. They're both pretty eccentric but at least Prince prefers to play with adults. What would be interesting would be a collabo where MJ sings and Prince composes and performs all the music. All egos aside, a catchy tune from those two would be a definite blockbuster and career booster for both. It should have happened a long time ago.

The melody of "Bad" wouldn't have fit Prince's voice. Actually it's one of those trademark Michael Jackson pop hits, because frankly speaking nobody else can sing especially that chorus. We've heard cover versions and that chorus is just impossible for anyone else to pull off like that. It's sharp, aggressive, high but not falsetto... it's just the character of Jackson's own voice that makes the melody.

I heard from someone who knew P fairly well during that time that P NEVER considered doing the duet. Not because it was with Mike, but duets with other artists, Sheena excluded. Going against popular thought, MJ and P never hated each other. Quite the opposite. They admired and respected each other's talents for years.

Holy Crap! This is the funniest thing I've read all day. It would really just end up being a battle of screams and splits. Maybe it just wasn't meant to be. lol
