Why did Prince give Tony M so much exposure? Was he good at rimming or giving it up the anal hole? I don't get how he went from being a dancer to ruining several good songs?

Ive asked myself this many times.
I think, cuz Tony was from Moneyapolis...and P was loyal to the locals Stand Up! Everybody, this is your life!

Three possible reasons I guess, one serious, one stupid and one crazy
Young friends of Prince I supect, Tony M and co started as dancers at First Avenue (Thy are next to the funky neon pizza sign on Purple Rain, when the Time launch into the bird) I think Moseley and co had been hanging around the P man for a while and he will give anyone interested in music a break. The rest was antihistory. The other Tony had a 9 inch black mamba that appealed to Prince very much, OR he was an obstacle between Prince and some honey. Or Tony held a gun to his head, and said "u skinny muthafucka with the hi voice, make me a star" 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

He was still the most talented rapper Prince had worked with up to that point.

Because Prince is a trend chaser as much as he is an innovator...always has been, always will be.

A secret that has been shrouded to long. Pull up a chair, Org. Here's the true story about Tony M and Prince:
You see, Prince was all about The Favor Bank: "You touch up my Typhoon, I touch up yours." Prince had been planning on trying to persuade Tony to put out an album called Milk & Honey. When Tony saw the cover Prince had planned, he split.

I think tony m gets too much crap here. We all should pick on Doug-e fresh more, that guy sucks big time!!!!!

doug e fresh is good. sure, he's no rakim...and he was certainly well past his prime when he hooked up with prince, but nevertheless.

Playing catch-up. | |

"playing catch up", "trend chaser".
There it is. Prince always gives exposure to his latest little projects and flavours of the month - look at Tamar. It's no hardship for us, it means we get more music - without Tony M. - No Goldnigga (maybe some don't like it, but!.....), without Tamar, no Milk & Honey (maybe some won't like it, but!.....)

I'm not sure that we would not have had Gold Nigga without Tony M. Remember, this was the first seeds of the rumbling discontent that spawned the whole name change incident... The NPG were a useful off-shoot for Prince to release music we would otherwise not have heard (possibly). That said, Tony M's influence on that album is heavy and, more or less, for the good. It is something of an undiscovered classic and would have had a very different - who's to say better or worse - vibe if tony M had not been there.

Because Tony had some good dick. Andy is a four letter word.

He´s probably a nice person, but as a true HipHop head I never really liked his contributions to Prince´s music. A lot of songs would´ve been so much better without any raps at all, like Live 4 Love, Willing and Able, and so on.
But then again, there were a couple of songs that I really liked , for instance Call The Law and Gett Off. 2gether was also good.Other than that, he got on my nerves.Anyway, it´s cool that Prince is generous enough to support some local folks instead of collaborating with the latest rapper of the day. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

'cause they wuz fukin'
Did I say that out loud? | |

Well, I was gonna say it was cuz Tony was giving Prince good sex, but that's been done.*
So, um, maybe Tony saved his life or something and Prince owed him a favour? *Though to be fair, Prince does have a history of working with moderate-to-no talent women because they were shagging, so.... "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"

hey, hey, HEY!!!!! what's all this shit about prince exposing himself to...oh wait. nevermind.

I can't think of any good rapper that Prince worked with. He was better off doing his own raps than having Tony or Doug. Most rappers out there would of worked with Prince, so he could of had practically anyone he wanted. Even if it wasn't a name rapper - at least someone with some real skills. Some of those raps are corny and the delivery sub par. DJ Dave Paul

You know, that was a very gay looking video You don't say. There was definitely a lot of subtle and not-so-subtle homoeroticism around that era. It was somethign special, for sure. [Edited 6/27/06 20:52pm] "A Watcher scoffs at gravity!"
