WHere to go in London for Prince fix/stuff?

Heading to London for work...wondering where I should go to see funky music, get rarities..... etc.

I know a lot of UK orgers are on here so any advice is appreciated.

I'm gonna miss St.Paul's show by a few days unfortunately.

Notting Hill Music Exchange Stores in Notting Hill Gate. Bring lots of cash for the rarities

Notting Hill is good but its expensive plus the vinyl covers can be in poor condition and they have their price stickers all over them.

Also check

Reckless Records in soho which is similar to the Music Exchange in Notting Hill

Beanos in Croydon - largest 2nd record shop in Europe apparrently. Great place you could spend hours in. Its out of town but there are loads of trains from Victoria station

The best tho is Soul Brother Records in putney (next to east putney tube station)- great range of soul, funk CD/vinyl originals and re-issues etc.

hi

try Camden Town market if you have a spare saturday/sunday afternoon. great bohemian vibe, tonnes of people, lots of little hidden-away record stalls... i don't know what the current standing of prince vinyl is - i used to get all my stuff there in the 80s and that's a long time back now - but you're bound to find something of interest and have a lot of fun into the bargain.

nearest tube* stop is Camden Town station.

also, once a month there used to be a record fair in the Electric Ballroom, which is a minute's walk from the station. (it doesn't look like much from the outside, just a scummy venue really!) anyway, i think they still run those record fairs - so you might get lucky the weekend you're there.

oh, and the Jazz Cafe is in camden - usually has some good funky/eclectic live music though tickets can be pricey.

have a good trip!

*tube = London Underground public transport, like the NY subway, etc.

Thanks y'all.
I"ll have to try and find these places this weekend.

I'm looking more for rare CDs than vinyl but I will try and check these places out.
I just go there and am staying right near a tube stop so hopefully i'll figure it out. smile
