***The Dixie Chicks are selling like hotcakes. Two weeks at Number One,and now they're at Number Two.Pretty impressive! dixie chicks r selling CDs but the tour ticket sales are about 1/3 of what they did last time They are about to cancel and postpone alot of thier dates I guess most people would rather just listen to their music at home, instead of seeing them live.Oh well,at least they have a hit album.

i'm disapointed at the #101 debut of the new Cheap Trick album,,,its getting great reviews and from what i've heard of it.it sounds excellent...oh well The album is great, but you have to consider, Cheap Trick have no promo, no airplay, no videoplay, no media play, and the lead singer isnt involved in a scandal, so that 10,000 unit sell is nice, plus its all on their label, so more $$ for them nothing for the middle men. It should also be noted that the most "consistent" cd in this Top 40 has been, "The PussyCat dolls", 1.6 million in the US, over 2.5 in other countries, its been in the top 40 for close to a year now, 5 single releases, 3 of them top 10 one on the way, and a sixth single to be released in late August. Hey im not one too look at numbers, but if we are gonna preach about them, its must be known.
Sorry had to say all this, but NICOLE is an old friend (and great singer) so it had to be said. "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Purple Rain - 13 mill ATWIAD - 3 mill Parade - 1 mill just sayin' And IMO, Pink is better now than when she started... Very strange to me what sells and what is marketed. You're right. I was never a fan of Pink but there's some nice stuff on her latest album - great rock vocal performance on "Who Knew". It just goes to show that the vast majority of the CD buying public are...well...fuckwits! pure and simple. they'll keep buying you're shit so long as you don't..like...you know...like...try and...like do something...like...totally...intersting...and stuff. Teena Marie is at #135 with an album called Sapphire, now she is some one Prince should have worked with, but she got Slick Rick James instead!!!
In New Zealand, Pinks new album is doing very well and Prince is still ahead of Matisyahu so thats good. I dont like the PCD very much, their songs are just ur usual booty shaking nonsense. Who is Young Jeezy with album sales of 1.6 million and what is High School Musical??? Who are AFI and Yung Joc are they your latest disposable 50 cent style rappers like Fisticuffs??? 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

Speaking of falling artists
Jackson Michael 1979 Off the Wall - 15 million 1982 Thriller - 55 million 1987 Bad - 25 million 1991 Dangerous - 20 million 1995 History Book 1 and 2 - 7 million 1997 Blood on the Dancefloor - 3 million 2001 Invincible (Invisible) - less than 1 million Now thats falling off. Where as Prince (worldwide sales) Parade 1.8 million S.O.T. 3.5 Million Lovesexy 2.5 million Batman 4 million GB 2 million Diamonds and Pearls 7 million Symbol 4 million, seems to be a resurgence I think? 17 Years ago I made a commitment to Prince

what's happening with the "Fury" single? The "Lolita" single? For an album that not getting the same radioplay and exposure as alot of other artists, Prince's album is acutally selling pretty good. Its looks like LL Cool J might, for the time in his whole career, have any album that wont sell gold or platinum. Def Jam shouldve let him put Fergie on his 1st single insteqad of J-Lo. [Edited 6/17/06 9:12am] Well i think LL is at that point that Bon Jovi were at back in 1992 when Grunge was in and Jovi thought about and tried being a "harder edge band", LL im sure is looked at as being Old news in Genre that focuses on Youth. I think the single with JLO sold more than the actual album when it went digital, I also think the JLO appearance did more for her than him as far as getting her back out there again somewhat "We went where our music was appreciated, and that was everywhere but the USA, we knew we had fans, but there is only so much of the world you can play at once" Magne F

Prince might care more about getting out The Word. It could be a slow cooker and the varied audiences he's reaching can still take him over the top. Bet on BET
