Do we really understand Prince

Reading over posts the last few months, makes me think, though im sure most of us have been fans since the beginning, do we really understand him or "get" the way he works. I know its fun to guess and speculate his next move, Tour, Video, Single, Album etc.. and we also feel the need to say which direction he should go, we also talk about numbers and sales and stuff like that. First lets look at the sales/numbers game, To what extreme do u think this matters to P? Honestly i really dont think it matters to him at all, I know he feel that every now and then he has to keep the label (at the time) happy, or get his face/music out there a little bit so he pops up on something, but all in all, i dont think he cares a whole lot, we all seem to worry about it more. Im curious how we would be if there was the internet back in 1980 or so and we were talking about how Dirty Mind or Controversy werent doing well chart wise. As far as guessing his next move, well its fun to discuss, but i think its a waste for us to say "what" he should do next, and trust me i have heard them all, everything from doing a "techno" cd to getting an outside producer like a pharrell to produce him, now those are some brutal ideas. Prince is always going to do what "he" wants to do, he reall does not care what "we" want or expect. I think the only thing he owes us, is what he wants to give us, I have Prince in concert 72 times now (after Butter last night) and Never have i felt Let down, Never, he is always giving all of himself, whether or not he is feeling "it" inside, and thats really all i can expect from him, thats truly understanding him.

So why do we waste the energy. I think thats what bothers me the most, we all seem to "lose sleep" over numbers, and tracks, and videos and B-sides and all that stuff. Realize he's gonna do what he wants to do, not what we want him to do, but on stage he will give it all.

I don't understand myself, either, so I really shouldn't try to decipher someone I've never even met. lol Though it's interesting anyway.

Exactly,it is always better to Not meet that person that U have such a strong vibe about. I have met Prince twice, both times no longer than a minute and an exchange of a few words. But i realized, thats is far as it should ever go, this is why i dont post my reviews of CD's and Concerts becuase all of us dont experience it the same way, and it loses something when i tell it to you because u didnt see it my way.
