Te Amo Corazon has same melody as Thunder? This has probably been mentioned before but I just discovered it today.
The melody for Te Amo and Thunder sound almost identical. Was Te Amo written around the same time as Thunder? Sing along and see for yourself: At 42.000 feet above the sea, Thats where you and I first came to be From the dust of the earth and the knowledge tree Te amo Corazon and then: Thunder - all thru the night Promise to see Jesus in the morning light Take my hand, it'll be alright C'mon save your soul tonight Similar or no? Also, The chorus for Black Sweat and The Work are Similar. Were these two recorded close together? Black Sweat doesn't seem like a song he would've recorded in the Rainbow Children days.

I think Te Amo sounds a lot like Michael Jackson's Liberian Girl, especially the chorus.

Wow, that's so odd.
Usually, he just rehashes 1999/Nasty Girl...

What, similar if you slow Thunder down and sing it completely differently?
Ermmm, no, not even then.

Thunder was my first Prince disappointment.
I mean, if I want to hear Boney M, I'll play me some Rasputin

I've seen reports on several cases where some artist or other has been taken to court because on paper the musical notation looks like some earlier composition even though it sounds nothing like - inevitably the case comes to nothing. Perhaps Prince should sue himself?!

Ok, that was funny. But, I can't believe you guys can't hear the similarity. If you sing a line from each song right after the other, they sound just alike! I don't care what y'all say, I'm sticking to my guns here.

I agree with you. They sound alike. I guess that happens when you have written so many tunes before, you repeat yourself at last. I don´t think he´s done it consciously.
And right, The Work and Black Sweat sound alike too. These songs have no strong melodies, it´s easier for this to happen then. Somebody else told 1999 and Maniac Monday (The Bangles) were basically the same song. What do you think? I think Prince noticed this and passed the latter to The Bangles.

Everyone has their twin. Prince's songs all sound similar to other Prince songs. How can u help it when u have such a big catalog?
Good comparison though.....

I mean, if I want to hear Boney M, I'll play me some Rasputin Easily the best song on that album. (which I admit is not my favorite. Diamond and Pearls the song was one of my first Prince disappointments)

But what's Pan saying about Boney M? Tony's not on Thunder as far as I remember. My Legacy

It's hard to not repeat yourself creatively; nice one for picking up on this! I didn't - probably because I hate "Thunder".
