I was probably between five and seven when I saw a clip of the "Little Red Corvette" video on some commercial or something. I was intrigued when I saw him move his fingers across his eyes (I don't know how else to describe it) and I asked my mom about it.

I said, "Who was that girl on the commercial who did this?" (I repeated the motion to her) She was telling me there was NO girl because she was confused, understandably. But I just remembered this yesterday when I watched the video on VH1 Classic. I was dying of laughter remembering that I thought Prince was a girl when I was about seven (because of his hair, I remember. I associated the hairstyle with females for some reason).

Doesn't look like a chick to me anymore.

the first time i saw prince was on the midnight special, way back when i was a kid. i remember my mom and i thought he was pretty, like "my little pony" pretty, and that he was pretty talented. i kinda forgot all about him till around the time between 1999 and purple rain, and it took me a while to realize it was the same person...

Me too. The first pic I saw of Prince was a small grainy newspaper photo. I thought one of the Sylvers had gone solo till the 1999 album came out. I had no idea he was the same guy who sang Soft and Wet, Do Me Baby and all those other songs I liked so much.

when I was young I use to think Prince and Phil Lynott from Thin Lizzy were the same person.

from a male point of view, i was really struck by his music, but he has an arresting appearence that warms me to him even more.

I first saw Prince when I was 9 on the show "American Bandstand". He sang "I Wanna Be Your Lover". I was mezmerized especially since this was the stage of my life that I began to have crushes on boys. Prince was the ultimate crush!

About 5 minutes before the show aired that Saturday morning I got into a fight with a girl that lived across the hall. She wanted to go outside and play, so to get rid of her I eventually had to bang her head against the door. Nothing was going to come between me and my Prince!!

when i was nine and three quarters i was singin' U Got The Look to myself while looking around the modest semi constructed three bedroom house that my family were gonna move into 2 months later (november 1987). And i remember before that a vague memory about some film about some musical dude riding around on a motorbike while my older brother went to the cinema to see ghostbusters (1984, of course).

my brother used to have a poster of him in his room and i always thought he was pretty but i didn't know who he was (i was probably about 6 or 7). it wasn't until i saw Purple Rain at the theater that he blew me away. i've been in love with him since. wow. he makes me sweat.
