I think someone asked this here before, but I don't think anyone had the answer.....what do y'all think?

Supposedly "the same diet Missy went on" is Missy Elliot.....but who's he puttin' on a diet? Who eats to much? Who does Prince have romantic feelings for that is hefty?

It's obviously about SOMEONE (not one of those "it doesn't mean anything" lyrics) or he wouldn't make such a exact reference. Who is heavy and is the marrying kind?

It's not literal.

He's saying that he's going to take this girl who's been treated badly, love her, and she'll blossom into a perfect woman.

Maybe the "diet" Missy went on was happiness, sex, and success? Think about it.

Okay, well then who's he talking about?

And if he means happiness, sex, and success, why does he say, 'Ya know she eat to much"?

I think it's just a generic story, not related to his life per se.

Just a song thats directed at all the bruthas who mistreat their ladies - like a message saying "treat her right or someone else will". In this song he's just using himself as the example of the hero.

Missy is just an example - a music star who had recently lost a well-publicized amount of weight. Prince is grabbing this dude by the balls and twisting: I'm gonna take your woman, I'm gonna make her love me, I'm gonna lay my irresistible voice on her, I'm gonna screw her brains out; not only that, but I'm gonna put her on a diet that will make her look even better than when you had her! He's trying to make this man as jealous as possible. It's not a Missy diss.

Besides the line you quote in this song; a more recent song with the same inuendo is: Incense & Candles "give props to your mama for the healthy food she must have gave you ... but the truth is that you're sitting on every one of your dinners".

Prince has fallen for a lady that is a little rounder than the ones he is perhaps used to. This doesn't necessarily mean she's overweight, just overweight by Prince standards. To have her, or for her to have him - he'll have to put her on a diet - even if she is "the marrying kind". You know the man's vain & image is everything or at least a lot!

He's probably shocked he's fallen for her too but you can't overlooked the truth.

Well I think Prince knows women can always lose weight. A beautiuful woman is a beautiful woman...she's probably just unhappy if she is hanging on to being overweight...I think it might just be a protection thing. You know...lots of women unconciously put on weight as a defense mechanism. As it is unnatural to be overweight for humans people abuse food because of what is going on inside...they may think they are eating just because food tastes good and pleasurable but if they examened it deeper they would find that there is something going on deeper than that.
