It would have been really cool and I wish Paisley Park records never got shut down or pulled or whatever. What Paisley was suppose to be in Prince's vision it just didn't happen. There were some excellent musicians and excellent albums but they seemed to go nowhere. What a Damn Shame! I definitely think Paisley could have been a Motown for the 80's with the right people working together.

Paisley Park Records could have been a successful record label if only Prince had done the following...

***HIRE "SKILLED" PEOPLE TO RUN THE COMPANY---In the late 80s-early 90s,the President of Paisley Park Records was Gilbert Davison,Prince's former bodyguard!! After he got into an argument with Prince,he was replaced by Prince's guitarist Levi Seacer Jr.!! Neither of those guys were qualified to run a record label. Prince had this annoying habit of "rewarding" his friends with important jobs that required skill and knowledge.

***SIGN TRULY TALENTED ACTS---The early years of Paisley Park gave us some truly talented artists like The Family and Mazarati. But as the 80s wore on,Prince started signing less impressive acts like Dale Bozzio,Taja Sevelle,Good Question and T.C. Ellis.

***BETTER PROMOTION---Many of the Paisley Park albums received little or no promotion. In 1987,Sheila E. released the finest album of her career, but it didn't receive the support and attention it deserved.I realize that Prince had his own career to tend to,but that's why he needed to hire the right people who could get the job done.

***STAFF SONGWRITERS/PRODUCERS---Prince should have hired a few kickass staff songwriters/producers who could have oversaw the production of many Paisley Park artists.BrownMark did a great job producing the Mazarati album,he should have been given a production deal with Paisley Park...Andre Cymone did a great job producing Jody Watley, surely he could have been a kickass producer for Paisley too?
