Sound Pop on "We Can Funk"?

@ 2:06, there's a noticeable pop/skip/something on "We Can Funk". What is it & why? Does anyone know? I was always curious as to how that made it into the finished product...

That's weird. Maybe it's from an inferior 2nd run. Sort of like the "Batcan" fiasco where the sound quality on the 2nd run sucks. Mine was bought on it's first release. Did you get yours later on?

I don't think so, pretty sure I got it close to the time of its release...

I know what you're talking about. It happens when he sings "I'm scared". I've always wondered what the hell that was myself but I just thought it was one of those Princely touches.

EXACTLY! Whew, I'm not nuts

I guess it could be something he wanted, but it sounds so odd to me. It's distracting...

And while we're at it... What's up with Something In The Water (Does Not Compute), where it sounds somewhere in the song like the LinnDrum machine stumbles over a beat... (don't have the CD at hand so can't tell exact time) I hope you know what i'm mean. I KNOW That's not just in my CD copy BTW.

Satan is trying to stifle your consumption of a perfectly cool jam. Satan sucks when he starts putting those pops in your disks. Satan sucks all the time. Satan sucks donkeys in hell.

My copy of GB has the same little blip. 'I'm scaa-aared'. You have to listen to it on headphones to pick it up.
There's a similar blip as 'Pussy Control' on TGE comes to a close @ 5.50. I suppose it's a problem with the master tapes.

Great. I had to listen to the track on headphones to hear it. It seems to be a skip in the backing vocal track only.

Now I will forever hear that fucking space in the song when it's played. Dammit Dammit Dammit.

TheMax

No skip/pop/hitch on my copy. The bar code number on my early copy is 7599-27493-2.

That probably doesn't help, but if my ears are to be trusted, then it's not on all released CD's.

Realtime recording...

It sounds like he is manually stopping and starting the LinnDrum while the the tape machine is rolling. He is also singing at that same time as has been seen on some of the videos that I have seen. So he might not have meant to start the Linn but kept it in anyway. He also did that with 777-9311 and a few other songs that he recorded during that era.

By the way does anybody know if the production notes for his songs are available for public view?
