hhcoy said: correct me if i'm wrong, but Graig Ross is Kravitz' guitar player...
Yes, CRaig Ross is his guitar player...and he just fucking kicks ass as well! Cindy is good on the drums, but Craig Ross has been the best part of Lenny's lineup for at least a decade - he simply tears it UP and is quite groovy as well. I think one of the reasons the new 'Lenny' record is kind of flat is because there are only 1 or 2 songs with Craig, and not even one with Cindy. I like 'Dig In' and all but egad, let's move onto the next record shall we? Maybe turn the computers off and quit taking advice from PRINCE?

IceNine said: Why, oh why has Prince choosen a drum machine for so many his tracks when they would have sounded so much better with a live drummer?
I have read that he likes drum machines because they let him work faster... but isn't quality more important than quantity? Am I the only one who loves the sound of live drums? Give me Shiela E, Michael Bland, John Blackwell... hell, even Bobby Z over the programmed stuff any day... Maybe I am the only one... John Blackwell said Prince was a great drummer in his workshop at Xenophobia. If you read the credits of TRC and ONA, you will notice that Prince does most of the instruments himself except drums which he enlists John for the live drums. Dont know what you are talking about.

It was one of the Celebration threads. It was said that in Eric's workshop at Paisley Park, that the Madhouse album was just him and Prince. Eric played all horns and Prince did everything else. That came from Eric himself. All Rights Reserved. |

I read in Uptown that Madhouse´s ´8´ was only Eric and Prince. Susan Rogers (correct me if I am wrong) said something like: ´He may not be a virtuoso on the drums, but the way he played all those songs with that confidence, without making mistakes made me very impressed. It´s a very hard thing to see´

My fave P drumming is ´Crystal Ball´...not because there is a solo, but because the drums are very aggressive, they lead the other instruments sometimes. Blackwell has this thing too. His drumming has presence, it keeps on changing.

maybe Prince is a better drum programmer than he is a drummer. test

It's aid that Morris Day played the drums on lady cab driver, tricky, cloreen bacon skin and irrisitable bitch.
Prince did a drum solo for the long version of the live video for America. It wasn't that great, but better then I could do.

I love the drumming on Crystal Ball, too! That string break and then he rocks the drums...goosebumps! I think it's pretty amazing that it's all him on that song. [This message was edited Mon Jul 29 11:38:26 PDT 2002 by calldapplwondery83]
