Splash

So who can fill me in on the origins of this track?

Sounds to me like it could have been recorded around the time of Dream Factory when it seemed like Prince was more than happy to have the influence of W&L more and more evident in his 'sound'.

I'm assuming that his subsequent change of focus, disbanding of the Revolution, canning of Dream Factory and move on to SOTT would be why Splash never saw the light of day?

Someone be kind enough to enlighten me?

Recorded August '85, same period as Empty Room, Go, Sexual Suicide.

In perspective, that's before the filming of UTCM started (Sept), but after Parade was pretty much done (except late additions of Mountains and Anotherlover).

It was sent to Claire Fischer in Aug. 86, but was never placed on any known config. of The Dream Factory.

That's paraphrasing what The Vault says about the song.

I was never that into it to be honest, it was one of the ones I can see why it didn't see the light of day at the time, it was only released by the NPGMC as a carrot on a stick.
