Derek B vs Prince Anyone remember a really bad UK rapper from around mid-80s by the name of Derek B?
He released a single called "Bad Young Brother" which heavily sampled Prince's "Sign O' The Times" song and I recall something about Prince and him getting into a seriously bad argument over it which led to suing and court. Well, here is Derek B's music video for "Bad Young Brother" - still awful but interesting to hear the Prince sample used: http://www.youtube.com/wa...=derek%20b

He wasn´t that bad for his time. He got a lot of respect back then and he was a serious Prince fan, he even mentioned him in his liner notes.
If I recall correctly he was in a relationship with an MTV VJ at the time and they also had a child together. I think he died in a car accident. May he rest in peace. UK hip hop was pretty nice back then...Hijack, DerekB, Silver Bullet, Duke, Kobalt 60, Son Of Noise / Hardnoise...the She-Rockers etc. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

I bought his "Bullet from a Gun" LP on record off E-Bay a few weeks ago, just for nostalgia purposes. Sad stuff.

Must be at least 15 yrs since I've heard that. I think I had it on the B side of my Curiosity Killed The Cat tape! "Sheeeeeeeeit"

When I was about 10 years old, I knew every lyric to every song, and I'd rap it around my house day and night. My parents got so annoyed, that one day my father came home and crushed my cassette copy of the album in his bare hand. Great memories...
