Hey guys I recently saw a preformance of 2001's Hit and Run tour and I thought it was exciting and fantasitic...wish I would have been into Prince back then. I thought the set list was great and how he changed up some songs like "Dorothy Parker" was superb. Geneva and Prince had great chemistry on stage.

Does anyone who went care to share your memories please? Tell me all about it!

I downloaded a vid of 'Darling nikki' and Prince was as raunchy as i've EVER SEEN HIM!
He put his head under the dancer's skirt, grinding on the floor, putting his arse right in the air and pretending to 'pump' and instead of a 'phonenumber' there was some panties on the stairs.

Women in the small venue were going crazy!

Made me think how he changed dramitically in just a couple of years; he must have had the JW's down his ear complaing it wasn't right.

He heavy metaled U Got Th e Look and played Darling Nikki at my Hit N Run Palladium show: hell here's my review:


"let me get a fruit cockatail and some chitlins'"-Palladium performance

Well thats what he said in Dot Parker...I thought it was funny but not a lot
of others did. It was a hot n sweaty performance. General Admission(GA) tix
made it like a club date. He began with Uptown of course and did Mutiny--which
had everyones hands raised and people jumpin. Since it was a genral admission
concert the heat was turned up and seemed to inspire Prince to put his all
into this one. I never heard it live in person, and maybe the club feel made
it that more jammin.

Controversy was equally jammin, with everyone pointin their finger during the
Controversy chorus part. I swear it was a madhouse due to it being general
admission. A letdown came soon with The Work where he took it to ten minutes
or more. Yawn. Not too great of a song to warrant the extra effort. However
when he pulled out UMMSS , that right there was seen by the general public who
knew not of the song as a new classic. And though I like the song anyways, he
took the song to higher levels live. Even the Millenia chick who did her verse
was good, although her mix wasnt to great. BTW I didnt see anything wrong with
the Millenia chicks in the looks dept. That one with the curled at the end "do"
with blonde streaks was the bomb diggity. But this was really a highlight,
UMMSS.


Nothing Compares 2 U was another highlight. he sang himslef and with passion
too. He had the crowd all singin the chorus(duh). He did a little extra on the
guitar for Lets Go crazy and made a heavy metal version of U Got The Look.
The Dorothy Parker was a great jam, but it seems like a lot of people werent
familiar with it. Poor them then. Purple rain had me thinkin oh no here we go
again but he tore the fuck outta the song, sang all of the versus, and had the
club frantic. his guitar playing was very very inspired and everyone was
feelin it. Even the naysayers. BTW, being up close (3 deep) you can see the
looks and smirks etc on Princes face that add a funny cool element. When he
did Mutiny and the looks he gives in the " you stayed out way too
late"--priceless, and funny as hell.


The drummer of course you all know was a badass, the backup singers were good,
and Geneva worked it for what she could. The Darling Nikki heavy metal version
was a highlight and her body pumpin wasnt exactly Cat but no one cared. Looks
like Prince was in a very good mood, interacting with the sides and center and
to the balcony areas.( Lucky Hobbs). All in all a 10, because the audience
amped him up ( L.A. is notorious for being jaded about concerts etc, but this
so called club date had Hollywood buzzin). And also because of the Genral
Admission club style performance.

I saw him in Houston on the tour and I was in the 5th row, I remember when
the groove changed and he went into "Mutiny", I went nuts.. I had never seen
him perform that song before. The set list was great and had alot of variety..

I saw him in Oakland, and it was the worst seats I've had in a while--nosebleed, up on the side. The sound sucked, and I was thinking the concert was uninteresting on the whole, which was strange because he opened with Uptown and continued with a great song selection.

Later I smoked a bowl in the bathroom and went down lower and closer to the center where it was a whole different experience. The sound was great, and the crowd was going nuts. I thought the full version of Darling Nikki was really exciting to see.

It made me realize how important seating is at a concert (and pot, if that's your thing).

i went to the show over in st. paul with my friend leann (she's an orger too, her orgname's escaped my mind at the moment)--it was her very first time seeing prince live.

i don't remember much else about the show, save for a few things:

-- he did a bit of "sexy dancer"...just an instrumental bit of it, and it was brief.

-- seeing DVS standing by the entrance gate on the other side of the lobby-thing...he was on his cell phone, and from what i remember he looked kinna pissed off. the fonky baldheads were supposed to be the opening act that night but since things were running late or what-not (and prince had soundcheck for NPGMC members, that too), they got exorcised from the show. thank gawd--i had the (dis)pleasure of seeing them cats once on my first trip out to paisley park, i wasn't anxious to see 'em again.

i still have the t-shirt i bought at the show--that chit costed like $25! the shirt's in my apartment somewhere, i haven't worn it in ages.

My first ever Prince show - Las Vegas, Dec 2000. Hugely impressed. The best segment for me was when the intro to Little Red Corvette came on, with Prince sitting in a red velvet armchair and Geneva doing a dance for him. He chased her around the chair, dragging his whole body along with his hands.

Then the song went into Darling Nikki. Prince's head disappeared up her very short skirt ("the lights went out..."). At some point, Geneva disappeared, but she left her panties behind. Also,

But that same tour when I saw him he gave a speech about how Larry talked him into not swearing anymore onstage, and he didn't that night, even though he sang Darling Nikki (I think the audience sang that famous line). He also said or sang something about wanting his woman to not dress too slutty.

I've always maintained that his general attitude hasn't changed, just the smaller details. He'll sing about fucking, he just won't say "fuck."

And he is SO right about women not having to dress slutty or trashy to look good. I think women look the sexiest when they look classy.

Yep, The Rainbow Children was complete before he did this tour, and as far as I know, he never even let on that he was going to spring this on us a couple months later at the Celebration -- though, he did voice some of the thoughts inbetween songs and during soundchecks. Outside some of the "doctrination," Prince was a pretty cool guy in 2001.
