I like it there, do you?

I remember back in '96 when I bought this cd called Chaos and Disorder and I kind of panned it publicly. I am listening to it again right now while posting these blurbs. I don't know if I am older and wiser or just try to put things into a monetary perspective. If i had recieved this cd in 2002 as a club exclusive, i would have had a different reaction. It really jams and is really something different and interesting. Its just something I was thinking about. And the timeline of things. I'm sure there are things you didn't like for one reason or another, and you still might have the same reaction, but pull out a cd you were not keen on and give an '02 listen.

I don't want to hear 'Yeah, Chaos is a great cd!'

Tell me something you pushed back in the collection and then gave it a listen in '02 and said now, its not so bad.

Or something you just liked then and now its one of your top 10 prince faves of all time

Ive always thought of C+D as being quite underrated.
Its got a strong rock side 2 Prince that U dont hear 2 much in his other records.
Lots of catchyness 2 it aswell.

And as 4 "In2 The Light" and "I Will"...well, absolutely fucking wonderful is an appropriate comment I think.

Well, this didn't happen in 2002, but close enough...

I always HATED "The Morning Papers". Perhaps it was radio overload, perhaps it was the hideous flannel shirt he wore in the video. Who knows...but I HATED this song, would skip it every time I listened to the cd and turn the station if it came on the radio.

Well, in late 2000, I was having a Glyph Album reawakening, and after my 3rd go around, I realized I hadn't skipped 'The Morning Papers'. So, I skipped to that song, listened to it probably 10 times in a row, and LOVED it. It's now one of my faves off that cd...

I tried Chaos and Disorder again this year, after the celebration and I still couldn't do it. Maybe I'll 'get it' in 2013??? wink

I always liked Chaos and Disorder, but i don't consider it a real Prince album, as it was used to fulfill his contract with WB--it would have been a good npg album or download.

'I like it there' is just funky rock and roll, so is 'I rock therefore i am' and 'Zannalee'.

That said, the album is kind of angry, it lacks a lot of grace i like in my fav prince albums: SOTT, Lovesexy, D&P etc.

Esp the rap in 'I rock therefore...': >>"Rugged and raw/ lift up your bra/Show me your titties"<< that should never be in a Prince song, not unless he was giving someone crap for acting like that like a complete ass(ex: "You juvenile delinquent...").

'Chaos and disorder' has been sitting on my shelf for a couple of months now and I haven't even heard it. Maybe it's time...

I haven't heard the CD for quite a long time, but it really has some gems on it. Anyway the title is more than correct. The record is really Chaos & Disorder, since it seems to have no basic line that is leading through all of the songs (like in SOTT or Lovesexy). But on the other hand the songs were put together to fullfill the contract with WB...

Alot of people will probably disagree with me, but mine was TRC when I first heard it I was not digging it at all, but I told myself If he would happen to come to conert I wouldn't know what he would have been singing about so I pulled it back out and started listening to it and now I love every song on there I have even played it soo much that its scratched now. So now I need another one. It scratched on my favorite song "The Everlasting Now". I wasn't digging Chaos and Disorder either when I first bought it but I started liking it back in '98.

I really liked Chaos & Disorder when it first came out -- mostly because of the guitar-heavy rock songs. I don't listen to it much now.

"Morning Papers" was a fav of mine from first listen, especially the sound of that guitar. I love that solo.

For You was the album that took me a long time to like (besides the slow songs). "For You" tripped me out -- I loved it and I thought I was in for an adventure, but when "In Love" started, my face fell. It's one of the few Prince songs that has yet to grow on me. Anyway, I bought the album in '84 or '85 and when I first played it all the way thru I thought Prince only made the album to fit in with the crowd -- to sound like everything else that was happening at the time so that his album would sell well. Now I think differently. I listen to it quite a bit now -- I can appreciate the musical diversity -- that he was able to play all those instruments (including the layering of different synth sounds and effects), and arrange the songs the way he did, usually adding something new each time he'd repeat a phrase, including the progressive changes in many of the songs. You can tell he put a lot of thought into each song, which is also evident by the many different unreleased versions of those songs.

I'm the same way with Come, I wouldn't even think about playin it. I would skip right over it, everytime. Now it's in heavy rotation.

I haven't even bought C and D on CD yet. I guess I'll get around to it. My aunt stole my cassete tape mad
