no because makeup is to cover flaws and as you know i have none on my face. i am the perfect male specimen. no need for makeup, makeup for what? i am gorgeous without it

Make up is not to cover up the flaws CHRONIC! Prince has beautiful eyes with or without make up, so you're saying he's flawed?

Maybe you have flaws and need a shovel to put you're make up on with. wink

I don't know 1 guy who wore or wears makeup. Even the guys in bands don't. Who in the world is going to be wearing Pearls? This is a very stupid question. What town Red Feathers do you come from? If you wore makeup in N.Y. or Brooklyn you would get your ASSED kicked in. Over here it is all about the THUG look. Only Prince can get away with the look and not look Bad. He looks Sexy. Other guys would come off as fragrant.

Be a real man for god's sake!

eek
I know your just having fun Ian, but statements
like this don't make sense to me.
What is a "real man"?
Why do things have to be labled
"for women" or "for men".
Nowadays, men can have peircings & long hair.
Things that were forbidden not so long ago.
Does my wife think I am any less a man if I
wear eye make up or a miniskirt?
I still have the "right equiptment" of a man
if you know what I mean.
So how could I not be a "real man"?
Look, I just don't give a shit anymore.
I have no problem admiting to myself that
wearing a miniskirt feels good, or eye make up
is fun. What have I got to loose other than
having to hear things like "be a real man".
Everyone has the right to their own opinion,
but think about it, what is the big friggin' deal
if a man likes to look girly or a woman likes
to look manly. Who should really give a shit?
I guess a "real man" would be one who plays it
safe by going along with what the majority
of ppl think instead of taking chances with
something that he really believes in.
right?...

Your in N.Y.C and your wearing a Mini skirt with a mustache Bullshit. You'd get your Ass kicked. Maybe in the privacy of your bedroom where all kinkiness is allowed but certainly Not in Public unless a Transvestite club.

Sure I did...but it had less to do with Prince than it had to do with Bauhaus and Robert Smith...ah yes, it's true...I'm a reformed goth! I used to mix green and black greasepant and smear it on my face for that "decomposition" look, then I would smear mascara down my cheeks and tease my hair out like Eraserhead. Pretty-pretty.

One day I decided to abandon this look, I guess because I wanted to actually get laid or something.

I feel much better now, having confessed.

You too huh? Well hows this, I one time (back when I had a mohawk) went to the Bad Religion show with "Dead Inside" written in bubble letters on my scalp. (one word on either side) Yet I can't understand men who wear foundation. Go figure.

Shut the fuck up wink and read the damned thread properly girl! This is about the 80s, new romantics, etc. Not NOW!!
What area in N.Y. do you come from Vagina? You would probably get your head kicked in for saying 'hello'.
Good luck with your thugs.
You said you like gothic music - how many goths wear make up. Please get some glasses/contacts.

In the summer of '84,when 'Purple Rain' came out,I had a few male friends who wore eyeliner! They would tell me "Every guy is doing this...look at MJ and Prince".I refused to go down that route:)

Anxiety, been there done that. smile

I didn't wear make-up in the 80's mainly because of my age, but I still sure do sometimes. But then again, I've wrangled an instrument a few times myself...

I wore eyeliner in the nineties, but only on special occassions (when I was drunk). It had nothing to do with prince though. The girls really seemed to like me wearing that.
I woke up sunday morning with no way to hold my head that didn't hurt
and the beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad so I had one more for dessert

First and Foremost RED I was commenting on Ian who said he wore a miniskirt and I said he couldn't possibly do that in Public unless he wanted to get his ASS kicked in. As for Gothic guys some wear make-up some don't. In the 80's I only knew some guys who wore Eyeliner. In Brooklyn nobody would do that or else get PUMMELED. This sure AIN"T ENGLAND! The most Feminine thing here even today is long hair. There was a guy I know who wore his mother's blouses and lipstick. He wasn't gay just liked to be Different;the neighbors wouldn't even talk to him. He was considered a Freak. Only the girls could Dress like that. Maybe in SOHO. Anything Goes down in the VILLAGE.

I was a teenager in the 80's. With the likes of Prince, Michael, Boy George, George Michael, and Duran Duran it was very popular 4 guys 2 wear makeup. I was a per4mer, and wore make-up on and off stage.

As far as Prince goes, yeah...I did the overcoat thing, lace, bracelets, crosses, and had a nice perm going. I was so pretty! Many girls thought it was cool, so..wtf, y not.

Now...nope, as u can see from my profile pic...I far outgrew all of that.

Still, I see nothing wrong with any of that.
