There was a dearth of potential singles on that album. I actually think that was one of the more obvious choices... bad as it is. lol

To be fair, I consider it one of his more consistant efforts since SOTT. nod

To be fair, I honestly think it's pretty terrible, aside from a handful of tracks.

Selam Aleykum smile Nasilsin?

Lol so funny my husband is Turkish and I spent two months this year out with his family in Turkey and none of them or his friends had even heard of Prince. Dont think he ranks nexted to Tarkan and the TV at the time 3121 was released was full of Hadise, Tarkan and Benny Benassi besides the other turkish stuff.
They have a load of music channels and they do love their music:)

I would love to see prince play Turkey but economically I dont think anyone would be able to afford to join NPGM let alone buy a concert ticket.

Prince gelllll Luften smile (come pls)

It depends. Of course the ticket prices might be a bit outrageous compared to concerts by local heroes like Tarkan, but then again, Micheal Jackson and Madonna ( and Metallica and Sting and countless other artists) have performed in Turkey, so I guess there IS a market but Prince is not really that wellknown any, ore, that´s what I meant when I said he´s lost what little bit of a fanbase he had there. But I still see him mentioned in magazines every now and then.

He would have to rethink his approach, i.e play a lot of classic hits AND a lot of piano/acoustic stuff and melodic stuff, lots of guitar, etc., not the old school soul and funk he did during Musicology...people in Turkiye LOVE music, and they also love rock music, but the heyday of RnB and Soul/Funk is over .

Turks in Germany, on the other hand, love RnB and Funk....( and Turkish pop).

Let me manage Prince in Turkiye and I guarantee you some sold out shows. You just have to know how to do it.

I heard the Turkish waiters put him off.
Fuck the funk - it's time to ditch the worn-out Vegas horns fills, pick up the geee-tar and finally ROCK THE MUTHA-FUCKER!! He hinted at this on Chaos, now it's time to step up and fully DELIVER!!
woot!

I've visited Ephesus and I think it was just after the Sting concert, that particular ampitheatre was off-limits as part of it had collapsed due to the weight of too many people - I'm sorry, but atmospheric as they are, ancient theatres are NOT the place to hold rock concerts!!!

nod Yes Pamukkale does mean Cotton Castle and nope it don’t feel like cotton at all it’s very grainy to touch and salty and the mineral springs are warm. One of my children has eczema and after bathing in the springs within a number of hours his skin had nearly cleared up. Local children are bathed in the natural springs to help heal their Penis after circumcision 1 time when I visited Pamukkale and I had a lot of explaining to do to one of my children he wanted to know all details and when telling him he kept crossing his legs and made me promise never to do that to him lol

I do know areas have collapsed but that’s to be expected due to the age of the amphitheatre but I do wish they would fix it with materials that look like they belong there. I have seen two concerts in the amphitheatre and the acoustics/sound quality is brilliant in my opinion it is a place to go and watch concerts I didn’t know they where not doing rock concerts there no more cry

I remember at the time of SOTT, Strange relationship was megabig in Turkey..it was a real floor filler in the clubs. i always found that peculiar as it was not even a single.
I watched Duran Duran in Cesme Ampitheatre in the 90s and they broke in to Sexy MF which was damn cool. It would be really cool if P did perform in Ephesus amphiteatre...2000 years old and still going strong - In fact i believe Sting will be performing there again soon....I doubt P will though...he appears to have settled in the US and forgotten all about Europe let alone Turkey which is a shame because I'm sure he would find it inspiring.

Yeah, the age of the ampitheatre... and the weight of thousands of people clomping all over it at once and the vibrations of massive speakers! Or do you think that does not contribute to its decay? I'm sure they love holding concerts there because they need the income to pay for the excavations, but there's hardly any point if it helps to destroy the very things they are uncovering!

from various websites:

The British star Sting performed in the ancient amphitheater of Ephesus. Because of the loud intense sonic vibrations cracks have developed in the upper tiers of the theater and they are now closed for repair.

Sting's first performance in Turkey was performed at the ancient Greek amphitheatre around the corner from the first library in the world and the whorehouse. The amphitheatre was overcrowded, leading to the suspicion that the promoter has offered extra tickets for sale above the agreed limit. "Somebody's made a lot of money here", said Sting to a reporter of Q magazine.
English security was flown over. There were no barriers between the audience and the band, just dry moat, packed with photographers, a video crew and both Turkish and British security.

After Sting's appearance the amphitheatre was closed by local authorities to the public for two years, because of fear of greater damage to the monument
