Prince in Turkey. Not the bird.
While the hit singles may have dried up in some markets (UK & US) our lil fella is still claiming high numbers on the Turkish singles chart. Since 1996 the following have all made the top 40: Dec 96

Now, I dunno if this is sales or airplay only, but it's good, innit.

Now, I dunno if this is sales or airplay only, but it's good, innit. Blimey, that's some shocking taste. Betcha by golly wow - a top 10 hit?! So far, so pleased - a top 10 hit?! Cinnamon Girl - a top 5 hit?!

Betcha by golly wow - a top 10 hit?! So far, so pleased - a top 10 hit?! Cinnamon Girl - a top 5 hit?! BBGW hit #11 in the UK, man. Still, I don't think P has made great single choices in the last 10 years, so I guess you've gotta go with what you get given. And good for him, afterall. At least he's still getting top 10s in some parts of the world.

As far as I know, So Far So Pleased was never released as a single. So this must be an airplay chart and not a singles one. So all it means is that Prince gets played on the radio a lot by some DJs. [Edited 6/6/06 8:05am]

Dunno, I was as surprised as you when I saw it. 'Tis the reason why I'm wondering if it's an airplay chart.

No, that's good! It helps us to learn that it takes less than 3 minutes to go from not knowing whether 'so far, so pleased' was released as a single anywhere in the world, to knowing 100% authoritatively that it wasn't. That's important data.

He didn´t. They said he did ( on GErman pay TV station Premiere, who were supposed to broadcast it) but he didn´t. The reasons why he didn´t are too complicated so I don´t want to talk about right now, it´s late here. But it´s definitely a market that he´s neglected for too long...I´m not so sure if he could ever win his fanbase back, if he ever had one in Turkiye. I have several articles about him from Turkish magazines. Except for TGRES and Musicology I kinda like those songs mentioined above, including Cinnamon Girl and So Far, So Pleased, Te Amo Corazon and Betcha By Golly Wow ( I like the Stylistics, and I liked Prince´s version, though releasing a cover version wasn´t really the smartest thing to do). " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

If ever Prince does a concert in Turkey I hope he would play at the Ephesus amphitheatre the acoustics are amazing the amphitheatre is stunning I believe sting sang their once. If he ever does this then he should visit Pamukkale. Turkish people call Pamukkale the eight wonder of the world u stand their in awe well i did

So is there any way to get definate confirmation on whether So Far So Pleased was actually released over there?
I know it was listed along with Man'O'War as a follow up to TGRES, but I thought neither were released anywhere in the end.
